STRANGE SYMPTOMS - FINALLY GETTING BETTER PLS RESPOND
Posted , 7 users are following.
ill try to make this brief as possible.
In August 2018 i was diagnosed with Mono.
i got extremely paranoid that it might be something worse so i made them test me for everything!
mind you this was only about 3 weeks after exposure. They did a 4th Gen HIV test.
HIV was negative but HSV-2 came back positive. HSV-1 was negative. ive never had a cold sore or herpes out break EVER.
ive read that EBV can cause cross reactivity with the ELISA test so im thinking that is the cause.
I did an ora quick test at 3 months, it was negative.
and another ora quick test around 5ish months and it was negative.
at this time i was taking monolaurin. could monolaurin affect the result of the oraquick test?
Finally after nearly 11 months with this crap im finally getting better... but for the longest time my stools were strange. not exactly diarrhea but they were more loose and sometimes they would be very pale. in the last month that has finally subsided.
did anyone else experience weird bowel changes?
I never really had headaches but i did have a single swollen lymp node behind my right ear that went down after about 3-4 weeks.
my throat never went back to normal. my only symptoms now are brain fog, i stay a little tired.
my hands and feet sometimes go numb and become really cold. but i definitely am feeling a lot better.
should i stop worrying about this being more than EBV?
i had EBV serology done, HIV testing (again) and theyre checking me for lupus.
ill have the results back in about 4 days.
is this virus really that bad or is my anxiety just horrible?
thank god for this forum.

it did a number on my anxiety. ive had intense blood work 3 times since i had it. plus some imaging tests. i was convinced i had something worse even after confirming it was mono. i was so sick for 7 weeks before they figured it out. im still having issues with health anxiety from it..i had to start therapy and was diagnosed with PTSD from the whole ordeal. i did get weird bowel issues. and i got other weird lasting symptoms too.

I have also been tired since august and got very sick in december they told me it was mono with only a previous infection markers not a current one. I have been to the ER 7-8 times probably 30 different doctors and specialists and all test come back negative or normal. Low testosterone and hiatal hernia/gerd low vitamin d thats literally all they found which are all pretty common ailments. I never had anxiety before this but i promise i got it now..terrible the way this virus does your body and mind.

yes stop doing all these tests. youre getting better thats a very good sign. your anxiety might be getting out of control because yoir actions arent logical - you keep testing for hiv when it showed up as negative. and probably your hiv risk was low to begin with. anxiety and stress contribute to our health - the constant release of adrenaline in the body lowers the immune system and can cause lots of other symptoms. so focus your time on some kind of stress managment, self nurturing, well being, anxiety reduction. the constant need to research illnesses and test for them is only feeding your anxiety and its not helping the problem. we think its helping solve the problem but its just an act of our anxiety and need to control the situation. release the control and focus on the positive things you can do for your mind

Hi John,
What an awful time you have been through this last year by the sounds of it, I definitely want to reassure you that this virus really is truly horrible and it's not just your anxiety in any way shape or form. I went through mono a number of years ago and it was just an awful experience, I was in a similar position to yourself after 11 months, I started to see some real change and improvement after 10 months or so, but was still fragile and in the early stages of full recovery at that point, and still had some fatigue and some painful glands and low grade fever.
John I truly want you to know that things will get better - and that's coming from me who struggled badly with the virus and also struggled at times to see that happening. I know it was only down to God I was able to get through it and be well and back on my feet again. My experience was that the Year 2 was like a walk in the park compared to the horrors of that first year, don't get me wrong I still needed to watch and be sensible, not overdo things, eat and drink wisely, get plenty of rest, etc, but generally Year 2 was a year of liberation, freedom, breakthrough and recovery - and I've read a lot of stories of other folks who have experienced the same in that second year. This is a nasty nasty virus and it is still normal to be feeling how you are even after 11 months, and want you to know that there is still fully recovery ahead - it's often just a time factor with this thing and God willing I pray and believe that you have been through the worst of this and that you are going to see real change and breakthrough and improvements over the coming period.
You've done all the right things getting tested for different things, I know it is so emotionally draining to go through the worries and stresses of all that, and just not being at all sure what is happening to your body. I remember thinking when going through this 'surely ALL this can't be caused by just mono?'. But it was and it can unfortunately be normal for people to go through this extended recovery period, but it is equally normal then for people to make a full recovery too after that! It was many years ago now I went through that but I still remember clearly how badly it affected me emotionally too with worry and anxiety and the mental strain too of it going on so long and just feeling so unwell and drained all the time - truly it is a terrible terrible thing to go through but believe me John you will make a full recovery and get back to full health with a little more time - your body has amazing powers of resilience and now has nearly a year behind it of building up the resources to fight and defeat this thing once and for all - and it will! I remember thinking when going through it I found it so hard to see my body being able to cope with normal levels of activity or work or things like that again as I just felt so unwell and drained doing everything, but absolutely your body resilience and ability to do things and not feel awful after it will return - you will be amazed!
Things that helped me during recovery (and still today) included taking a good strong multi-vitamin per day (I take Immunace Extra here in the UK), higher doses of Vitamin C (1000mg per day), co-enzyme Q10 and/or a B complex vitamin (great for energy levels and nervous system) and immune boosting herbs like siberian ginseng and echinacea. Of course please check for any interactions with any other health conditions or medication before taking any herbs / supplements, or check in with a regular doctor or herbal doctor - I'm no expert on anything like this just going on my own research and things that have helped me.
Hang in there John and hoping you get some good news with the test results that can put your mind at ease - you're right there's such nice and supportive people on this forum. We all know what it's like to go through this horrible virus and please feel free to message any time - thinking about you and remember - you WILL make a FULL recovery with a bit more time, I truly believe that! God is the great healer.

i just want to say thank you so much to everyone that is responding!
i got my EBV serology tests back...
how are my levels so high 11 months out? especially the early antigen marker?
the nuclear antigen test was borderline positive meaning possible autoimmunity.
im fighting it bad with all the natural antivirals i can.

Hi John,
This looks pretty much like mine at 8 months, I have recovered. My doctor said it is pretty normal to have such results after infection, I was worried because lupus runs in my family.
It was over a year before I started feeling normal. We drink green and nettle tea and take vitamin D it seems to have helped.
