Strange symptoms..Severe mouth, gums and palate pain on top of feeling so weak and flu like..very sc

I've been very ill since October 2017. Was diagnosed with active ebv in Dec. I'm 52 and had mono as a teenager. I just wondered if anyone else had a sore painful mouth. My whole mouth aches and my gums, teeth ridge and palate hurt and feel raw especially at night and face pain and sore throat. I am so weak i cannot function in daily life. I also suffer from brain fog and emotional numbness, will have extreme rigorous chills for NO apparent reason, extreme scalp pain, digestion problems & stomach pain. Experience numbness & swelling in my feet..I have little appetite, no sense of smell or taste. I am feeling helpless & hopeless that this is gonna last forever or kill me..has anyone experienced the mouth issues? I've been to dentist and no problem that he could find..I apologize for the "downer" mentality as i know many on here suffering also..I wrote this on my cell so may be hard to read..best wishes to all for returning to good health! Thankyou for any response..

Have you been to a ENT specialist yet??

I haven't seen one for about a year..at that time he told me my vocal chords were irritated and were flapping against one in other causing me to lose my voice at times and cough..he is nearing retirement and was pretty much a grump..my current PCP dr early on since mono diagnosis didnt think i needed see ENT again but i am going to soon regardless..I am so depressed again today..I honestly felt like i was going to pass on last night..I forced myself to go to a trampoline park with my daughter and my 2 young granddaughters Friday cause I miss doing things with them so much and they just dont understand why I can't chase them around like i did 7 months ago..I had them over to my house 3 or 4 days a week and cud chase them around back yard, play on swing set and do endless messy craft projects..all of that has come to a halt and my home is so out of order now I don't want them over here in this mess..anyway, i went with them and just followed them around trampoline park and watched..well..that night I felt so bad i cudnt move and couldn't get comfortable laying..yesterday was worse..I want to push myself alittle but now i feel like I'm doomed if doing alittle walking and standing gonna bring on worsened symptoms! My mouth and throat was so sore and had a severe headache..arms feel as they weigh 100lbs each and my legs are so weak i can barely walk...bloated stomach with right upper pain under rib...could all this be related to the EBV?! The dr says im over it (he didn't test levels again since dec)..I am at my wits end and need to find a dr to help me..I have an endoscopy/colonoscopy Tuesday and i have to start preparing for that soon..I'm not at all scared of procedures but am wondering if my body can handle the prep and the drugs they gonna give me..I loved the new Gastro NP I saw and she wants to help me but she wont be doing the procedure of course, and idk how long it will take to get a follow up with her after (had to wait 3 months to get 1st appt)..Oh gosh..I'm sorry..rambling..I've tried to hold off but im gonna beg some strong antibiotics out of my dr and see if they help at all..I have a script for predizone..I may try that 1st...thxu..take care of yourself..?

      Hi Lesaco,

What a terrible time you've been going through, I just really hope and pray this horrible time will pass soon, I know you must be so weary and exhausted. Please do remember with mono this lack of energy and all sorts of weird pains and symptoms can be normal, it's so depressing I know but I want you to know that there IS hope and it DOES get better given time and you will be able to be active again and do the things with your daughter and granddaughters again, you really will.

Thinking about you Lescao, just take each day as it comes right now, don't beat yourself up and remember it's okay to accept that today might not be a perfect day in how you're feeling but that you will come through this and see light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks Lesaco, yes I'm just finished a course of one month's antibiotics but hasn't seemed to help. Going back to the doctor to see if there is anything else they can do. It can be so disheartening I know when you feel like you're trying so hard and can't get there. Just need to trust God that He is for us in our trials and He is with us and will see us through safely and without harm smile

Thanks Poppy..I'm just having an endoscopy & colonoscopy to see if there may be any evidence in my stomach if bacteria that could be related to my mouth & throat issues and the colonoscopy because of all the upper right side stomach & back pain i have been experiencing (& bowel issues)..pretty nervous about the prep & drugs they gonna give me just because I feel so lousy i honestly don't feel like it would take much to kill me! Dramatic i know..😓 Have you had the scope at the ENT before? It's not too bad at all..when is your appt? My right ear was hurting me bad along with jaw pain when all of this started..it is not constant now but still bothers me from time to time..do you think you clench or grind your teeth at night? I know that can cause ear pain..I seem to clench alot since onset of this hellish virus but feel certain it could not be the cause of the stinging & burning in my mouth & throat..I am gonna try predizone after Tuesdays procedure (if they don't find anything)..I will keep you updated if it helps at all..wishing you wellness! Take care

I have the right sided pain too. I started clenching with the onset of the symptoms. I have never clenched my teeth in my life. I believe it's the pain in my throat and lymph nodes that makes clenching happen.

Wish you good luck in your upcoming procedures. Keep us updated.

Thx so much Christine..that makes sense on the clenching..so annoying..caught myself doing it right now..good grief..take care..

I hope it all goes ok for you as im not to sure about the procedures. Im really scared about the scope and im kind of dreading it abit like yourself im scared of the procedure and if they find something bad and im also scared theyre dont dind find whats causing it or cant cure me i think my anxiety is starting to kick in again i really just want all this to be over i dont know how much more i can take with feeling not to bad one day then getting really freaked out the next 🙁 not what i know of i dont clench my teeth ill keep you updated about my app i feel like asking for predizone all thanks very much for your reply it means alot 😊

Good luck Poppy with your procedure, it's very understandable to be apprehensive about these things, hoping everything goes well. I do understand as was going to have a colonoscopy last year for my back issues but decided against it as was most likely not anything there causing my back issues. Been having some prostatitis issues too lately, been getting me down also, just praying God can save us from these hard times and give us new hope and strength and life again, thanks to His healing hands and goodness.

Take care and hang in there

Thanks craig your support really means alot i dont no what id of done without all you people and this forum so hard to understand if you havent suffered from it really hope you get somewhere with your own health problems we have to keep pushing our doctors too as sometimes i think they are quick to dismiss and feel there is a always a timescale at your appointment i also wish i had seen the same one from the beginning so i dont have to explain a huge list of things each time within a couple of minutes.

Poppy, A big thank you and digital hugs to you and Craig! 😊 I will spend all day drinking gallons of nasty laxative stuff to prepare for tests tomorrow so you can probably guess which room i will be spending the day in..fun fun..Poppy, please try not to be anxious about the ENT visit..with all the other strange things ebv does to our bodies it could just be affecting your ear..hopefully the ENT will be a good one and try something to relieve your pain tho! And then again you could have a secondary bacterial infection which maybe an antibiotic could help..but please don't think the worse! If your nerves are bothering you that can very well be causing some of your stomach problems..believe me, i know..I hope you have a good day..take care of yourself..
