    Hi Catts123

That's interesting that you have Strep B. I've had LP for 3 years now, after constantly being told I had a urinary infection when tested (when I hadn't). I am on Dermovate now but finding it difficult to get it down to less than twice a week.

The interesting thing is that I was on a short course of antibiotics last year and for 2 weeks had no symptoms at all. The same thing happened when I was on ant-virals during an attack of shingles last month. It makes me wonder whether some sort of deep-seated infection is responsible in some way. I am hypothyroid too of course!

Good luck with your treatment - this group is as always so much of a comfort.

Hi there, I find this very interesting too, as I was told by my Dermatologist that my LS.was in remission last week but I continue to be extremely sore in a very red area of the clitoris and with swollen vulva. She prescribed Gabapentin and suggested upping the Amytriptiline dose which I do hope will help with what I can only describe as an agonising pain over all the area. She thought it was most probably Vulvodynia that was causing such pain that I could not sit still or could barely walk. I am visiting my GP next week so thank you for your post I think I will ask for a swab test.

    Hi Catts,

No Strep B causes problems (itching, sore etc) in non-pregnant women. I had a waxing incident that broke the skin and I became infected. I knew I was a carrier of Strep B as I was tested when I was pregnant and had to have antibiotics for the birth.  Its funny cos the specialist I see for LS made the same stupid comment about Strep B not being a problem unless you are pregnant but I know from personal experience that this isn't true!! I have wondered if there was a link between the strep B and the commencement of LS for me. I personally think we get LS for all sorts of different reasons.  X

Yes definitely go back to your doctors. When I had it they automatically prescribed antibiotics. The only thing with that is that you could give yourself other problems. I got a staph infection after taking meds for GSB!!! Or obviously you could get thrush if you are prone. The other option is eating shed loads of garlic!! It is a natural remedy that works for me. I had lots of fresh garlic and also took allicin tablets that you can get in Boots/health shops/order online. If you look up GSB you will find forums on it for women that aren't pregnant. There might be other natural remedies available I'm sorry I don't remember. Good luck and let us know how you get on xx
