Has anyone tried taking antidepressants? And did you notice a difference? Thinking they could help control the stress which would help alievate the pain.

I've had md for 20 yrs and finally lost hearing in both ears. Along with the tinittus and exacerbated sounds I was getting very depressed. I've tried several anti deppresants with different outcomes and side affects. I recommend a specialist rather than a gp to prescribe. there are lots of side affects. all the best and good luck.

    Hi Kelly,

I've been diagnosed with MD since 2012. About a year ago I went onto antidepressants. Its more for Anxiety as I was struggling to go out to work/socialise etc.. I take Sertraline 50mg once a day. I also had some counseling which helped.

Go and talk to you GP or ENT consultant they both can prescribe meds, there was some initial side effects but stop after a few weeks.. I will stay on them for as long as I need them as I feel they have helped me.

    Good luck and take care.

Yes, I tried them last summer. I was prescribed Prozac hoping it would help alleviate my dizziness/anxiety, but it did not. It also affected my mood in a negative way. I felt more short-tempered and aggitated after being on it for about 6 weeks. i stopped taking it at 8 weeks. The pharmacist told me i probably wouldnt see a difference until about 8-10 weeks so maybe I didnt give it long enough, but i was just too unhappy on it to continue. What has relieved my vertigo for the past 19 months has been 1) taking antiviral medication Acyclovir 2) taking a diuretic pill once per week 3) eating healthier 4) drinking more water 3) taking gingko biloba and lysine supplements

I had anti anxiety prescribed by my neurologist because he will always think its like a panic attack and triggered due to anxiety and stress. I had it for a month and it didn't work at all. I stopped after the first month and I still go for follow up to my neurologist but completely worthless.
