Stressing out

I have recently found out that my ex gave me genital herpes, however, he didn't know until he gave them to me! I'm really struggling to deal with having this virus as I can't talk to anyone about it. I've been very emotional and my friends are asking what is wrong but I worry they will judge me or even tell other people as they also know my ex. How do I cope with this? And does it effect your life in the long run with new relationships? I'd really appreciate it if someone would answer my questions as I'm stressing a lot!!! Thank you

    Hi Rachel,

I've recently been diagnosed as well. It is extremely hard. I know exactly where your coming from. The only person that knows in my life is my current partner and it's really hard to even discuss it with him because he doesn't understand the stress that comes along with it. However I do have to say it's going on about six months that I have known and it does get easier. There are times I am very depressed, stressed out over it and frankly just don't want to speak to anyone. However, when you get in that rut. Pull yourself back out!!! Remember it's a virus that your living with just like everyone living with something. It just has a bad rap. I wish you the best in coping with this ! I'm not sure how to private message you but if you want to talk just message me anytime.

As far as relationships. I've been with my partner for years so I can't answer that. I do have to say he stuck by me knowing the factor. ? so hopefully you find someone who will treat you no differently .

Thank you, this is very helpful!!

I guess I just have to get my head around the fact that I have it now for life and there's nothing I can do about it and I guess it isn't the worst case scenario! (It feels it's at the moment tho)

I'm just dreading having to tell future partners because some won't be as understanding as others! The annoying thing is i was a virgin and the guy I lost it too didn't know he had it! Which makes it even worse sad
