Hi Joyce, if you eventually do have the Stretta procedure, can you tell us all about it?

I am collecting patients' stories of any upper gastrointestinal procedures to help those about to undergo similar.

Meanwhile, you may read more about Stretta on the DownWithAcid org uk site. You'll find it linked about halfway down the home (contents) page under Refux / Reflux reduction techniques.

I believe that is what my doctor wanted to do to me but if it's the same thing, it involves a 4 day hospital stay and I just wasn't sure about that part.

Hi Dom, I haven't had any reply's yet from anyone who has had the treatment but I don't think it is really well known about, although it has been around for approximately 10yrs so I have read, but I think the main problem is not many hospital's offer the Stretta treatment, I live on Merseyside so I am going to the Royal Liverpool hosp. But if I get any positive reply's I will let you know.

My dr. told me the Stratta treatment involves radiowaves that are attached to the bottom of the esophagus and strenghtens it where it has become stretched and weak allowing for the reflux to happen.  I'm sure I haven't used every word exactly like she said but this is the jest of it.
