Struggling..

It’s late and I’m wide awake. Felt better at 1 month 11 days off gabapentin today and then all side effects came back. My mind telling me just take one pill. And no, I won’t.
So discouraging, I felt so much better and now not feeling well. Prayers appreciated.

The insomnia is part of getting off it.. ...its horrible, but don't get tempted or you'll soon be hooked again.the leaky eyes you mentioned,i still get that, but must admit until you mentioned it,i didn't think it was related to gabapentin.
Hey you've come this far, dont give up now.
My back is giving my twinges at the minute, but that's cos I thought I was going to have some fun on a ladies bike(which I've not ridden one since I was 14yrs).
Well I didn't fall off,but wasn't that successful either.
Seriously keep going you're not that far behind me with the stopping of this drug.
Me thinks i'd sooner have lack of sleep and other side effects, than go back on that.
Keep in touch.and keep pushing through.......youll get there
Regards Vivienne

You are so right, insomnia is so a part of the WD, makes it harder when you can't sleep. Have to remind self of all this when we are in the depth of the WD symptoms. Hang in there everyone, it will end.
I am 2months 3 weeks off of GABA. Just got out of the hospital for bladder surgery, they tried to give me Gabapentin for pain. They do not understand how bad this drug is. Glad to be home

It's okay deebee, it is the Gaba talking. This feeling will pass. And it will come again. But it will get weaker and fewer times, keep strong and move in the good direction. Yes, my prays and thoughts are with you. Mary

Update - I’m at 1 month 17 days off gabapentin. Still feel loopy, balance issues, loss of appetite, memory loss, brain fog, cognitive issues. Early this week the insomnia turned to where I would wake every couple hours then go back to sleep. And then this last 2 nights I had stretches of 5hrs sleep, yay! I’m taking a multivitamin, plus B12. “CALM Magnesium” powder made me fall over couple weeks ago, elbow still black and blue so I stopped the Mag lol. I won’t go back on gabapentin ever again. So appreciate knowing that I will heal in time, thank you.

Home 1 week from bladder operation, have to set in the chair for 2 more wks, just when you think you can't handle any more fun things for your mind and body.
Have been off Gaba 3 months today, and yes if it wasn't for the operation I'm feeling okay.
Someone mentioned a leaky eye, yes I had that also. Had a lot of side effects that I am only now realizing were side effects, not just getting old.
3 months and the painfully WD is gone, still, have trouble sleeping and short-term memory problems, and focus all need help. But the sun is out and the sky is blue again. Love and strength to all of you never give up

Hi Mary,
You seem to be in a similar place to me with gabapentin.
I stopped taking them last November, and our withdrawal symptoms are about the same too.
I feel so much better now than I did. I think the insomnia is one of the worst parts to get through
Good luck ,hopefully you're on the mend too from the operation.
Gabapentin shouldn't be prescribed so easily. The side effects outweigh the original problems

I agree, side effects, destruction of our brain's and working body parts are not a fair trade-off to taking this drug. I too never would have thought my DR. would have given me something like this. I am so glad to be done with it.
v2806 wonderful feeling isn't it when you realize it's leaving your body, and you are going to be well and happy again. Congratulations !!

Yes... I hear gabapentin causes withdrawal symptoms even at very low doses. Hang in there, we will get back to normal. Blessings
