Struggling HSV1+2

I’m aboit to be diagnosed with HSV2 and as the outbreak confjnues I’m feeling tingling in my lips. I’m so frightened of having both oral and genital. How do I deal with this? Is one outbreak going to trigger the other and have an endless looping hell? I need support, tips, feedback, anything. I’m not prepared for this and I have a girlfriend who is negative on both, I don’t know how I can let her date me knowing she may have to share in this pain one day

Hey I know what your going threw. I have both hsv1&2. I only get genital OB. I don't get any cold sores on my lips. My husband also has 1&2 he only gets cold sores and thank god has not had any OB on his genitals. I am not too sure if you'll have OB on both

You haven't been diagnosed with anything yet from the sounds of it. Better to wait rather than jump the gun. Were you swabbed?

They did the blood test but not the swab. I’m not familiar with the swab, would that be directly on a blister? I’ve heard blood tests can give mixed results especially when you’ve had chicken pox, which I have. I was supposed to get my results today, but they haven’t called, so I’m stuck in limbo. I know I have it though. This is just to confirm which one or both.

Chicken pox does not affect the IgG test, which is the only blood test that's relevant and useful. The swab test is a direct test of the lesion and hence virus, not an indirect test for antibodies. Much better for obvious reasons.
