Struggling to find happiness

Hey guys,

This might seem a bit silly.. I certainly feel silly but it's a problem that's affecting my everyday life.

I've recently split up from my boyfriend which has made me really sad as we were together for 3 years and were both so happy at the time, just not towards the end.

I've moved back in with my mum who is lovely and has been so supportive, my younger brother and sister are also there and we get on really well.

I have a job which I mostly enjoy, the people there are nice and I get on with all of them.

I'm trying to rebuild my life and I'm much better than I was.. but I'm just struggling to be happy or positive about anything.

I have a hobby which I do a lot, a couple of sports and art which I'm good at. But why aren't I happy?

I feel hopeless and helpless and like there will never be a happy ending for me. I'm just so down sad

I don't wanna take anti depressants because they have really messed with my head in the past... any ideas?

You've recently split up with you boyfrend, it's a big stress, considering that your relationship lasted pretty long. It's normal to had negative feelings in this situation. It's good that you are trying to deal with stress, rebuild your life, appreciate everything good that you have: your family, job, hobby. But don't demand too much from yourself. Your feelings is just a normal reaction to the lost of a close person. You can't just automatically feel good and forget this all by your wish. Continue working on your life, but remember that you need some time to recover.

Depending on how recent the relationship ended, it's perfectly normal for you to feel this way.  There's a ton of emotions probably bouncing all around inside you.  A major change just happened in your life.  You've got some great responses so far, so I just wanted to add that you should never stop your momentum you have.  Your job, hobbies, the relationship with your mom.  If you stop them even for a second, you'll be in a much worse place.  Keep on keeping on and know that in time, this will pass and you've got a brighter future ahead.
