Struggling to get my wee out in early hours

Posted , 9 users are following.

I have bhp and the last couple of nights around 2am I have needed a wee urgently. When I get to the toilet I have to push my wee out and it comes out very slowly like a dribble. I am on medication, is this normal?

Hi. See the urologist and see what meds he suggests but you may want have some self-insert catheters available for an emergency. My great uro gave me a supra-pubic catheter when my self-inserts also failed to go in. This worked well for 3 months until my HoLep. Whatever you do don't have a traditional TURP op if needed which an older Uro might do; look for one of the various newer techniques. HoLep is good for very large prostates.

Darren, I also have BPH and have to get up 3 times per night.  When the flow is slow I find sitting down to wee and using Kegels helps me to empty my bladder fully.  I also practiced the Kegels using my urology nurses advice and was able to get rid of the post void dribble for the time being.
