Struggling with fibro headaches, any tips?!

Hey everyone. I'm 23 years old and was diagnosed with fibro 7 years ago. Recently my symptoms have been getting worse, especially the headaches! When I was first diagnosed I tried taking amytriptaline, naproxen and then gabapentin with little success. After that I decided to try and self medicate instead but it's now proving impossible to make it through a day without awful headaches. Has anyone tried anything else with any success?!

Hi Jess, I too suffer with Fibromyaglia and had my run in with headaches. I recently found that my migraines were due to my occular eye pressure being way too high. A short procedure in each eye (laser) took care of that.  I could not tolerate gabapentin, or Neurontin for that long. It made me irratably anxious among other things. I did have some success with Topirmate and eventually ended up with an OTC Excedrin Migraine which seemed to help. I still take it for other body aches, especially low back.

I hope you find something that helps you.. Wishing you the best!

    Hello jess93656

I suffered from really bad headaches recently and read a lot about nortriptyline which is the sister drug of amitriptyline. I found that it quickly got rid of my headaches. I tried amitriptyline but it made me really drowsy even if I took it 12 hours before I had to get up. I take 25mg of nortriptyline 12 hours before I get up and it works fine for me.

Do some reaesrch of nortriptyline and reviews so that you can see if ot might be something that will work for you and talk to your GP or Pharmacy.

Just thought I would share my experience as it may help someone.

Good luck and hope you get your headache sorted.
