I like you have bad arms right now and find that I am scared to hold small babies as I don't know if I can hold them for long, therefore I tend to make sure I'm sitting down and can support my arm on a cushion to be able to hold a child.
I find it infuriating as I want to play with them.
I hope you get help and manage to get a bit better.

You were diagnosed with RA because of your RA factor? Or other reasons?
If you have the RA factor in your blood and the pains are symmetrial and start of bad and get better during the day, these are the signs of RA.
It could be Lyme's diseases, yes, but it could also be other things. I think you have to trust your rheumatologist on this one. I'm not sure why checking for Lyme's suddenly became urgent, but its worth keeping it in mind if other symptoms don't gel.
Most important is that you pull in your family and friends to help you and explain your situation to your GP and/or social services.

But to both Tina and Donna....
If your hands are already deforming because the drugs aren't strong enough, and if you can't get a quick appointment with your rheumy, go back to your GP, and show her what's happening. Don't delay!
If you're already on low doses, she's authorized to raise the dose a bit.
