Hi Tina, So sorry to hear your struggling, I do agree with all the others you really do need to let people know your suffering and that you need support.

I like you have bad arms right now and find that I am scared to hold small babies as I don't know if I can hold them for long, therefore I tend to make sure I'm sitting down and can support my arm on a cushion to be able to hold a child.

I find it infuriating as I want to play with them.

I hope you get help and manage to get a bit better.

This sounds heart breaking, Tina. Please get help.

You were diagnosed with RA because of your RA factor? Or other reasons?

If you have the RA factor in your blood and the pains are symmetrial and start of bad and get better during the day, these are the signs of RA.

It could be Lyme's diseases, yes, but it could also be other things. I think you have to trust your rheumatologist on this one. I'm not sure why checking for Lyme's suddenly became urgent, but its worth keeping it in mind if other symptoms don't gel.

Most important is that you pull in your family and friends to help you and explain your situation to your GP and/or social services.

Hi Tina, mine developed during pregnancy and then hit me like a train when my 21 month year old was born, so know exactly how you feel. Looking back I wish I had asked for help rather than struggled. I also found I didn't want to take pain killers because then I felt spaced out. Don't forget having a one year old is hard work even if you are firing on all cylinders!

Hello. Im so sorry to hear your struggling. I to am struggling with my two children but they are a little older. May I ask how u know its aggressive? I became ill in November last year and its progressed very quickly where all my joints hurt and my toes, wrists and fingers have already started deforming.

    Thankyou.

Apologies for the delay. My fingers and toes are already deforming. Its scarey how quickly it progresses. My next app is next month where we discuss meds etc. Still off work at min. The way its going im not sure i'll ever go back :-(

One piece of advice I can,get yourself a journal and keep note of your illness eg.when your pain is at its worse and when it starts to abate.Even take note of what you eat and drink over the day and how your meds make you feel, this is a help to your RA Consultant, also take note of what he says to you.

My heart goes out to you...I can't imagine this at your age (I am 57 and my kids are grown).  I am going to take Daniela's advice and get checked for Lyme's disease.  For you, one thing that occurs to me is 1) something related to your pregnancy.  Have you recently started a new diet or supplement?  But the first thing that jumped out at me was your environment.  Have you moved into a new home recently?  Or gotten new rubber-backed curtains or  carpet or a new mattress or sofa?  I have heard that the toxins in these types of items can cause radical reactions in some people.  I really hope you can find the solution...

Forgive me I haven't read all these posts, so might be repeating or have missed something... (my issue is my eyes right now!)

But to both Tina and Donna....

If your hands are already deforming because the drugs aren't strong enough, and if you can't get a quick appointment with your rheumy, go back to your GP, and show her what's happening. Don't delay!

If you're already on low doses, she's authorized to raise the dose a bit.
