struggling with my tinnitus since 5 years

Hello im new in here.. i hope everyone is well. Was happy to find such forum where ones can find a little support and hope by communicating one another and sharing experiences. Ive been struggling with my tinnitus since 5 years it came out of sudden. Went to 3 ORL (assured all was fine) 3 tmj dentists (assumed that my severe teeth grinding out of stress at night, might have led to my tinnitus and its too late to recover anything) no one could actually helped with my jaw (face muscle cramps) or tinnitus or the troubles coming with it ( headaches, diziness) instead they all advised to adjust my life style since i'll be living with that sound in my head 24/7. All my life. Im not sure if it has anything to do with the anxiety medecines(seroxat, venlax..) i used to take 4 years ago but im sure that the stress had a big say in my life. Im 34 and hoping one day we will all wake up 'sound free' since i know how frustrating and paining is to live with tinnitus.

I will pray for you neomi. As with many of us you are looking for the root. There are over 200 possible sources. I suggest you disregard the negative advice of learning to live with it because it is permanent and to hold on to faith you will find what is best for you and a possible resolution. I have had many illnesses in the past resolve and that is my faith for this ailment too.
There are so many suggested sollutions and not one that fits all. If you're a person of faith, ask God to show you only the right things to try so you don't get caughtup in false ideas.
Today I'm going for a hearing screening and a head and neck massage. My tinnitus comes and goes and I hope this treatment today has some effect. All we can do is try to relax, enjoy life, and try different things as we have a mind to do so.

The head and neck massage was heavenly. The crunching and tension loosened. The tinnitus is still there. I believe the sounds are in our brain. Something is misfiring. We will try all we can until it is figured out. I learned from my hearing screening lady not to be in total silence. Not only does some noise mask it and keep your mind off it, doing so makes the monster smaller and you may actually retrain your brain to listen for outside noise. I work in quiet so now am going to add noise to my environment as I can. I don't focus well with a radio on so will see what occurs.

That is terrific. Yes, we join in prayer together. We follow what God leads us to. We draw on him to help us handle this.
My hearing is perfect from the screening. I learned we spend too much time looking into our ears and it's like looking into an empty box because the problem isn't there. It's in our brain.

Are you able to eat foods high in vitamin B12, such as beef, liver, seafood, fish, cheese and eggs as this is the only natural way of obtaining it?

Make sure to keep your Folate level healthy - plenty of green vegetables - as this is essential to process the B12. The two work together.
You cannot "overdose" on B12 as any excess is excreted via your urine so a high level in your bloodstream shouldn't be a worry. If the symptoms that it "helped" return don't be afraid to start supplementing again.
I wish you well.

Hi Leanne, sorry to hear that, wish u well dear along ur pregnancy.
Ive never been sent to mri bcz the tmj specialist identified my cause to be muscle tension, and a bit alteration in my bite along the grinding. As i mentioned before i gave up looking for causes after so many opinions with no results im stuck with muscle relaxing meds and exercise.

Or ,a bang on the head, causing your brain to send wrong signals too the hearing department ,about filtering out noises by recognition. and, not cancelling them out. I have the latter. which seems to respond to stress.(mine ) so the noise varies.,but never goes away. the White
noise machines do help, but you have to have the patience of Job
to set them up.

Hi Jacqueline, guess my case is similar to urs and the noise in my head is constant never goes away although it may increase or decrease according to my stress.. i went to an ent who assured theres nthg wrong with my ears although i cant support somehow loud voices, after a tmj specialist examined me he concluded that my 'bruxism' might have led to tinnitus and he assured that nthg much can be done.. i try to forget about the sound but the additional symptoms i got along remind me of my prob.. (lightheadedness, headache, neck aches...) so its impossible to just forget it! I had 2 years ago episodes of headaches with burning sensations on the right side, but they went away after b12 supplementation or thats what i thought.. anyway, the white noises help indeed and im trying to just cope with T now.. wish one day we all become T free xx
