Struggling with vertigo

Woke up this morning and found the room spinning every time I change the level of my head. I have been struggling with dizziness for about a week now but nothing this intense. I know I would need to see a doctor but unsure of whether to consult a dentist or a GP. I had a cold a little while ago that left me very congested for a few days and don't know if this may have caused an inner ear issue but something else unusual has cropped up at around the same time. For the past 8 years or so I have been under the impression that I have only three wisdom teeth which I considered to be a good thing as since the bottom two have made their appearance they have pushed my two front teeth out of line and given me a click in my jaw that has, eight years latter, still not eased up so I was happy to have only one wisdom tooth in my top jaw. About a week ago I noticed a corner of the 'missing' tooth sticking out of my gum. I have been experiencing a feeling of pressure on my jaw that becomes more or less severe at random times but never goes away. I find it suspicious that this happened at the same time that I began to struggle with dizziness and yesterday the pressure on my jaw was particularly great and now I am experiencing vertigo. It seems to me that since ones upper wisdom teeth are relatively close to the inner ear canal that there might be some pressure exerted by the emergence of this tooth, but I wouldn't know for sure and do not have the funds to be sent from one specialist to another. I would just like to know which eventuality would be more likely, wisdom tooth or ear infection?

Positional vertigo. Look at epply maneuver online. Ear crystals

I have tried some manuevers as shown on utube when I had viral labarynthitis (unsure of spelling) but have not found them but whether I was doing them incorrectly or for some other reason, they did not help much.

Not sure what happened to the 'y' and the 'o' of youtube there.... 🙈 but either way, for now I'm actually just trying to establish the cause.

Find a physical therapist who is experienced with bppv and performs Epley maneuver, it helps.

Thank you, but as I mentioned in my original query, I don't have the funds to jump from a physio to a dentist to an ent. I want to establish the most probable cause so that I can go to the correct specialist from the get-go, and not just treat the symptom (vertigo) but any underlining cause so that I don't have to keep returning.

I would start with you GP as they should be able to diagnose it.  If they cannot, they would then refer you to an ENT or neurologist.   Since you were sick, you may just have fluid in your ears due to your illness.  Have you tried an allergy medication like Zyrtec?  I hope you feel better soon.  smile

Thanks! I didn't know allergy meds could help for ears. I definitely do have fluid in my ears, have had for years (I used to do a lot of long distance swimming) but though I can feel it, the doctors can never see anything wrong besides a slight inflammation.... it's never caused this much vertigo though.

My ENT told me allergy medications dry out your sinuses which are connected to your ears.  It makes sense.  I hope you feel better soon.
