Struggling with withdrawal

Posted , 2 users are following.

After two months of bad side effects (I got through sleep issues and tiredness but couldn't shake off stomach pain, bloating and diarrhoea) I agreed with my doctor to taper off 50mg daily of Sertraline. The drop to 25mg was ok - a few days of nightmares / early waking / fatigue but otherwise ok. However, now I've stopped completely I'm feeling increased anxiety, tummy pain, real tiredness etc.

How long does it last (was only on 5mg for 8 weeks) and are there any ways of coping better?

Thanks.

Hi Pete, i wish i saw this post sooner and I hope you're feeling better by now!

It can take a while and it does affect everyone differently but it took me 3 months to taper off and a further month or two sertraline free to basically settle down.

The anxiety and the horrible physical symptoms do go. The only thing it left me with is fairly regular heart burn / indigestion. Stick with it, its worth it!
