Stubborn Achilles tendon, ankle barely moving

Posted , 5 users are following.

I can finally walk with one crutch. I have been going to physical therapy three times a week. Now they want me to go five times. The achilles is so tight. I've been doing the stretching and exercises diligently and my ankle barely moves. I am worried something is not right. Has anyone else experienced such a hard time getting the Achilles stretched out? Thanks

That's great progress!!! it's been 2 months after my surgery am just learning how to walk with one crutch as well, but the way the pins and plates are in my mobility to move my foot upwards is limited..

Takes a while to stretch out the achilles especially if it is quite short as the Physio explained to me.

Are you using the resistance bands? They can be useful for stretches.

keep at it xx and just maybe increase the time you spend stretching with the belt and use a wall as support to help stretches too xx it will get better and less tight x

Well done but regardless what your physio says I suggest that you use both crutches until you are walking strongly with a good. well balanced. I've had a TAR which due to poor surgery had to be pulled out and a different prosthesis put in by a different surgeon so Ive had to go through two recoveries and a hip revision in eight years. I can walk six miles at a good pace and swim most days, and I'm 78. Good luck, Richard
