Has anyone had a subinguinal varicocelectomy? Did you get pain and swelling afterwards, top and bottom testicle pan?

@We5t - following as I need one, but nervous about it. I have seen two surgeons and both use different procedures, and not supporting the other option.

Hi mate, I had the procedure 6 weeks ago to try and help relive long term testicle pain, but sadly we don't think the procedure has worked. Here in the UK they go in through the side of the scrotum, small incision about 2cm long which you cant even see now its been 6 weeks; its healed up nicely. Be prepared for pain and swelling for 2-3 weeks after surgery, my testicle swelled up as big as a tennis ball and turned blue/purple; the pain was off the scale. The post surgery pain has pretty much settled now, but I still have the same pain as before the surgery, maybe a small reduction, but no dramatic difference. The surgeon said he popped my testicle out of the sack and had it in his hand, he saw that the surface of my testicle was inflamed and found an epididymal cyst. They have now offered me removal of the testicle, they reckon this will give me a better chance of it working as everything will be cut and gone. I really don't know what to do now, it's a hard decision to make. Let me know how you get one mate.
