submandibular Gland Removal

9 days ago I had my Right Submandibular Gland removed because of numerous stones in it. I kept getting infections in the gland. The surgery went ok with some complications My doctor found a cyst on my gland that burst when he opened me. I have an incision that is hurting me but the incision itself looks good considering the trauma that area had from surgery. My Doctor did put a Drain that was kept in for 2 days It was then removed by my doctor I have very little hardness at the incision site. I am still in pain that goes right up the right side of my face and pain in my ear and the front of it The pain gets unbearable at times My Doctor said that pain is the nerves n the blood flow coming back to those areas of my face. The swelling has gone down on my right side alot since the surgery but the swelling under my chin n Throat is still there My Doctor said it would get better. I did see everyone have different time frames of healing from this type of surgery Has anyone had this surgery lately I'm just trying find out how long this pain on my right side of my face n Ear will be around for Any advice would be helpful because I'm not sleeping at night bc of the pain still

Thank u waiting to hear from anyone who has had this surgery done recently or in the last year Thanks

You could have a condition called Frey's Syndrome that can occur after the kind of surgery you just had. performed. Your nerves could have been damaged during surgery, although they usually heal normally, sometimes they don't heal completely or can sustain permanent damage. Address this question with your doctor and do some research on your own. I wish you complete healing and answers. God Bless.
