Submandibular removal- saliva

Posted , 2 users are following.

I have damage to one of my submandibular glands resulting in thick sticky saliva. One of my doctors has suggested in removal of the gland. I was wondering what people experiences are with saliva after the removal. Was there saliva thin and easy to swallow.

The thick saliva mainly gives me swalloing difficulties which really affects my day. Did people notice difference in saliva and swalloing after the removal?

Hi, Eleanor. I see that no one has replied about surgery in the 9 months since you posted this.

What did you decide to do?

I myself haven't had surgery, but my situation is somewhat similar to what you described. I've been having salivary gland issues for close to 5 months, and the cause is not clear. After about a month of salty, watery saliva on the left side of my mouth, the saliva began getting thicker and stickier, and the stickiness is now driving me crazy.

How are you doing now?I hope you got some relief.
