Subtalar Fusion

Hi All!
So last week (2/21) I got a subtalar fusion. The fusion was necessary due to subtalar arthrodesis. The pain was just unbearable, and I needed to fix it. I’m 24, super young for this kind of surgery from what I’m hearing. I’m going back to my doctor tomorrow to get my first set of x-rays and a hard cast (fingers crossed that the swelling went down enough for him to give me the cast!)
I was wondering if anyone else has had this surgery and can tell me a little about their post-op adventure... I’m curious to see if anyone else felt the same pain as I did the first week, and if anyone has experienced the strange tingling and sharp pains.
Looking forward to some responses! Thanks

Hi I had this surgery on December 8 2017, I am going for my 12 week appointment tomorrow. This is surgery was necessary due to tarsal coalition in both if my ankle but I started with my right ankle. The recovery is long and most deal with sever depression and bouts of uselessness because of lack of movement and not being able to do every day tasks. I was lucky and had my husband to take care of me and try to keep my occupied and doing all the house work. I had no swelling however and my surgeon seemed pleased. Also I have no pain when I walk with a crutch or cane right now and still no swelling. I have noticed that I can't walk very far tho, but I think it's the uncomfortableness of the orthopedic boot, not pain but discomfort. Having the boot on all day makes my foot stiff and tight. But when I wake up from sleeping without the boot my door is loose and I'm able to do my exercises without discomfort. I will hopefully have minimal scarring. I still have a numb baby toe from where the nerves were, im told it will go away. Where exactly are your strange tinglings?
