Success Stories

In the interest of starting the week of right I'd be interested in hearing about some PMR success stories.

Please state what year you were diagnosed, what meds and doses you were on, short history of your journey and what year you finally stopped all meds and for all intents and purposes returned to "normal".

Thanks in advance for giving us optimism and hope.

What a great idea, Scott.  I am very new to this, so it will be ncie to read of success stories, I wonder though, sometimes when people are totally healed they may not feel the need for a support group anymore.  I hope we hear some good stories.

I am new to this too. That is why I would like to hear positive stories that give us all hope that we will one day see improvement. My gut feeling is that people who are doing well will want to share their stories so please keep them coming.

Hi Scott, everyone sees success in different guises.  I am alive so that is a success lol.  I was diagnosed November 2014 with PMR and I had undiagnosed GTA but got through that.  So started on 20mg pred.  I am now on 3.5mg pred which is very good in such a short time.  Yet I am not the person I used to be.  All my muscles were bilateral and so so painful.  It took me 2 and a half hours to get showered and dressed and do an 8min drive.  Before I could walk for 4 miles, now I can do very little due to my left calf muscle pulling, I have to stop and start quite a bit.  Having said all that I see my story as a success.  So far so good.  Regards Pat

I got diagnosed with PMR when I was 49. It lasted 2.5 years. I went into remission for 12 years. It was heaven.

Unfortunately it came back last year when I turned  63.

12 years remission is fantastic. Replapsing, not so good. lol

But at least it's 'just' PMR - it could be much worse, eh?

There are success stories on the North East website  under Our Stories and articles in the Newsletters.  There is a Club Zero on the forum run by the the North East.

I am not sure about using the word 'success' it is remission, there are also stories about people who were in remission and then PMR and/or GCA returned.
