Herpes is highly contagious and this is unlikely. Find someone who also has herpes or is okay with your status.

this is a ridiculous comment! herpes is not always contagious and there is means to prevent transmission!
please educate yourself!

he is right about being with someone who knows of your condition, whether theyre postive or not. they just need to know. the possibility of transmitting it will always be there but its not "HIGHLY" contagious unless youre not managing it properly.

My genital HSV2 diagnosis was in 2016. I haven't passed it on since then despite having several sexual partners. I don't use condoms.
I always tell any new partner about my Herpes. I'm very very vigilant for outbreaks and avoid any sexual contact during an outbreak.
So it can be done but requires honesty and discipline.

Thanks for your response! I have had HSV2 For almost 20 years and this is the 1st time I've had a sexual partner without condoms. I do use valtrex daily for suppressive therapy and have not had a outbreak for a few years, but I'm so nervous of passing it on that every little twinge or itch I'm assuming is an outbreak so I think I freakout sometimes.

hey, my bestfriend had had herpes for over 5 years now and disclosed to her boyfriend. They have had unprotected sex and he still doesnt have it.
with maintaining your immune system and taking the proper medication, it is not highly transmissible

yes it is possible, as long as you fully educate yourself, understand outbreaks and keep on top of management you'll be fine. i have had three partners, and a long term wife since contracting HSV more than 12 years ago. everyone is difference, everyone has different levels of severity and sheds the virus differently, for me i dont get major or regular outbreaks if i manage my lifestyle accordingly, i.e. healthy eating, lots of sleep and rest, minimize stress etc etc. im sick of the people that say its HIGHLY!!!! contagious including the so called medical professionals that "claim" to know it all, unless you have the virus yourself, live a first hand experience and come to learn and understand the virus, im sorry DR or not, you dont know s*it.
BUT YES TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION IN SHORT, IT IS ABSOLUTELY DO ABLE. JUST BE CAREFUL AND PLAY IT SAFE.

I have. When i first found out i had it i was lost for words because everyone came out negative. My boyfriend is still negative. I wouldnt suggest running around having unprotected sex though but my boyfriend doesnt have it nor does the people I had sex with this year (before I found out)
