Yes, I did, back in 2002, it worked very well, my gyno had done a lot of these operations every though they were pretty new back then. A lot depends on the expertise of the doctor doing it. There were no urogyns back then where I lived in any case so I did not know that that would be a preferable way to go. I was pleased with the results the gyno got anyway and had no problems. Good luck, I am sure you will be fine..

Thank you so much. I needed to hear something positive. I'm six weeks post op and have some small leaking when sneezing and coughing and also some overflow dribbling as my bladder is having incomplete emptying despite a strong flow. I"ve been driving myself crazy with all the fear and horror stories. I think if it worked 100% and I also didnt have frequency and urine retention id probably not be thinking this was the end of the world. Being told it only lasts 5-10 years post op and then told not to lift or I could undo work when i have a toddler im dying to carry i also wouldnt be stressing myself out that maybe a pessary was worth a try first. Didnt really try that hard to see if alternative methods worked. Did you have any post op symptoms, leaking? Are you happy longterm?

Yes, I am happy overall, it worked really well for me and never a leak until I had a cytoscopy with a urogyn a few years ago and he must have loosened something as I do get a slight leak now. But it worked wonderfully for at least eleven years and probably would have gone on longer if I had not had that procedure. There can be problems with the tape initially and it may need to be loosened or even cut if it had been put in too tight. I would get back on to the doctor who did it and see what can be done. Also the bladder is a very sensitive organ and does not like to be messed with so this may just be an adjustment period but either way you should get advice. I recommend you join the APOPS group on Facebook for pelvic organ prolapse as you will get lots fo support and advice there. Also I recommend a consult with a good womens health physio as they can be an invaluable help in navigating these difficulties. Good luck!

HI Did you have any lifting restrictions over the years or did you live life as normal? If i cant lift toddler, carry suitcases, haul bags of dirt out of car etc then this is not for me.

I know it was a long time ago but do you remember if you were completely dry or did you get dribbling or small drop leaks. Guess i thought this would be %100 for life. I didnt leak much only dribbles before unless i sneezed. I'M just over six weeks and find my pad has urine in it. SAME AS BEFORE SURGERY.

i should mention that i likely need a cystocopy as well as im having incomplete voiding. im hoping for that procedure as i cant stand the pressure. omg if that type of procedure loosens things. i just got this done.

Hi again, no, I was lucky that after the operation I did not have any more leaking so it was a complete success. I did meet women in the hospital who had to go back to have it loosened etc. The doctor never gave me weight restrictions but I did try not to lift anything too heavy but otherwise lived my life as normal, riding, gardening etc! I was a single parent so had to get on with everything. I did wear a pessary as well so that gave me some confidence, I suppose. Dont worry about your cystoscopy, I am sure mine was a one-off thing! Try to relax and plan what you are going to do! I hope you can get your mind put at rest after talking with the doctor and a visit to a specialised physio, they can work wonders!

    Hi.hun

The only difference is a urogynacologist has had an extra few years training specifically in the pelvic floor area.

In uk only urogynacologists do pelvic floor surgery(well they should be) as tbey have had the training.

I found after my first op that the ibternet did me no good lol. I worried myself crazy!!

The only time you will stop worrying is when you get a second opinion.

I researched my consultant for a very long time and also was highly recommended.

He is a professer of pelvic floor so.any questions fire away.

Please get a second opinion. You onlyhave one health and one body.xx
