Such bad nausea!

Posted , 6 users are following.

Hi all. So, 11 1/2 weeks now on sertraline. Increased dose to 150mg last Friday. Needed to use diazepam for increased anxiety for the first 3 days, had an ok day on Tuesday but have had such bad nausea for the past two days! I can barely eat and am in bed most of the time. I really can't afford to lose anymore weight either. Has anyone else had nausea so far into treatment and if so how long did it last?

Hi Hun I’ve been back on paroxatine now for the past 6wks with little improvement. I still feel sick and anxious all the time. That’s what I mostly do. Is stay in bed. It’s horrible int it. I just can’t wait till my meds kick in properly. It’s so scary feeling like this. I also feel as though I’ve lost myself and feeling detached from myself and my luv1s. Did you ever experience anything like this. X

Oh yes Debra....derealisation...like being on the outside looking in. Really freaky but harmless. It's caused by heightened anxiety and it's yet ur brains way to coping until you calm. Have you git any diazepam, buspar or anything similar to calm you down and help until he meds kick in?

Hi Gabrielle is this a normal side effect then? The doctor told me it is because of my anxiety. How long have you ad it for? N no I don’t have anything like that to take. I’m on propranolol and gaberpentin. The doctor won’t give me anything else. I still have to take sleeping tablets every night. So when I’m eeally anxious through the day I take 1 then aswell to relax me. What do you take with ures to keep you calm? Xx

I take 2mg diazepam when anxiety is severe and if it doesn't subside within half an hour, I'll take another. I can't use propanalol as I've naturally low blood pressure. Hopefully you're meds will start working soon x

    Hi Gabrielle

Nausea is a common side effect on Sertraline. It is likely your body has low tolerance to this drug. I wonder whether you should switch to another drug. My niece suffered from nausea on Sertraline and I have heard of loads of cases like yours.

It's not something I've had a lot of thankfully. It's usually acid reflux. i think because I had a good day on Tuesday o was quite shocked when it felt so ill yesterday and again today. Hoping it passes soon.

When you increase your dose, you will likely get the side effects again. I increased mine on 2/14 from 100 to 150 and experienced the nausea again. It lasted a few weeks but is FINALLY settling. I know, it feels like starting over but you will start to get better.

I think that the 150mg has definitely helped clear the brain clouds a bit. I'm able to step back a. It in my mind and kno that a thought is only a thought, or a sensation is not harmful. I'm

Just so frustrated that I'm not "me" again yet.

Ah glad you took the plunge Lorraine and increased to 150mg. My head is definitely beginning to feel clearer and the heightened anxiety with the dose increase only lasted 3 days this time. If I could just get rid of this nausea I think I might be actually making progress.

I’m 5 weeks in on 100mg and I can’t sicky feelings on and off always poops in a morning. I too have lost weight which I didn’t really need to do.

I think it’s a very slow process, I have bin on these meds before 5 years ago lowered to 50 mg 18 months and my anxiety cake back so gp put me back up to 100mg.

My time on them before was about 4-5 months before I felt myself, I’m just so impatient and want to feel like that again now lol.

Having a bit of a bad day today, I think it’s because the kids break up for Easter and it’s going to put me out of routine?

We just have to keep plodding on and thinking positive. I think the effects your describing should hopefully ease over the coming weeks.

My kids finished for Easter yesterday and I completely agree...it has knocked me out of my routine too. So much more organising to do than when they're at school. Tried to eat some dinner a short while ago but only had a few mouthfuls before I had to stop. Have had an incredible thirst too which I didn't have with any other dosage increase. Hopefully this is the dose that will work for me and the side effects settle quickly. Hope you have a much better day tomorrow x

I’m positive we will both be fine given a few more weeks. This medication does take weeks if not months to fully take effect and the negative is the unfortunate side affects. These did fade away last time I used this so hopefully the same will happen again.

Anxiety doesn’t like change as much as we tell ourselves that it’s fine the anxiety will try to make a big deal out of it x
