Sudden bowel or lower abdominal pain and tenderness

Would be grateful for advice or suggestions!
I'm 47 years, male, 72kg, 170cm, never smoked.
Usually good digestion and no history of constipation. Normal bowel movements prior.
Around 2pm had sudden onset of quite severe lower abdomen pain, came in waves, did not go away after 2 hours. I'd describe as similar to needing to use the toilet urgently although unable to pass anything so pain continued.
I went to the urgent care where the doctor checked my abdomen (pain tenderness in lower central area, deep not surface, vitals normal). Did not do xray or other scans. He suggested constipation and prescribed Movicol. Later in the evening before taking Movicol I had a small weird bowel movement (two colors, one whitish) - not normal at all, don't recall this ever.
The pain has somewhat subsided although still noticeable and some sensation of chills.
My instinct is unless this returns to very normal in the morning to try to see a gastroenterologist as soon as possible and ask for xray/CT to rule out anything serious.
As that symptoms seem totally different to anything I have experienced before I'm very keen to rule out any serious obstructions or anything that could lead to gangrene (doctor at urgent care did not seem at all interested in this, he only mentioned that he did not find anything suggestive of a hernia on physical exam).
Am I overreacting? Is there any particular way i should approach this? Unless of course it disappears in the morning, I fully understand...
Thanks!!
