Sudden foot pain that hasn’t gone away for a week, not swollen or discoloured?

Hello, hope anyone can help me. I have a family member that suddenly had agonizing foot pain in the left foot, where the pain just shoots up the foot. The pain comes on suddenly that it makes them jump ,but first, they get pins and needles.

The pain is located right inside the foot along the tarsal. It might be tendonitis but not sure.

They have been given ibuprofen gel to put on and also cocodamine but that does not work at all.

There was also an xray of the foot but no bones have been broken and no fractures. we are waiting to ask for mri scan next.

But they also cannot walk on the foot at all, it is that painful and when it spasms it is unbearable.

Has anyone else had a similar expierience to this or knows what it could be. Thankyou.

p.s , we have been trying foods, everything from tumeric, ,chilis, inflammatory fruits and cold water, plus ice packs and hot water bottles.
