Sudden Head Pressure and Drop Attacks

I was diagnosed with MD when I was 22. I am now 47. My right ear is effected. I underwent endolymphatic sac decompression one year ago. I'm on a diuretic, take multiple supplements and Serc 24 mg 3x day. Thankfully I have not experienced hours upon hours of spinning like did prior to my surgery. Recently I've be experiencing heavy head pressure that settles in one of three locations (the top of my head like a headband, across my eyes and around my temples or like a heavy weight at the base of skull). When this pressure occurs, I eventually get a strange feeling come over my eyes. If I turn my head, look up or down it results in a rapid spin of 2-3 rotations which causes me to suddenly fall. The spin will then slow and subside completely in less then a few minutes. The head pressure typically remains and my eyes will feel extremely heavy. Has anyone ever experienced this before? It will happen up to 3 times a week.
Prior to my endolymphaitc surgery I underwent a lot of vestibular testing with an audiologist. It did show a very mild case of nyastagma in my eyes when moved in different positions.
I'd appreciate any advice. I'm thankful I get a brief warning before it occurs. I can't imagine this happening when I might be driving.
All in all, I'm thankful that I had the surgery. I used to spend a full day in bed spinning.

I think it sounds a bit like migraine now that you are suffering with. The only reason i say that is because of all that you describe. I've nit had a migraine in years but used to get a lot of head pressure. I knew when mine was coming on as I used to get a pain across the left ear and terrible spinning as well. It might be worth you asking your specialist as from what I've been told there is a fine line between MD and migraine. I've just been prescribed 16mg of Betahistine (also known as Serc) and they are working a treat for me. I can finally hear again and the tinnitus has quietened right down. I'm looking forward to getting back to work next month now.

hi Ronda. Sorry about your recent symptoms. Some of the symptoms sound like it could possibly be BPPV, (Benign, Paroxysmal, Positional, Vertigo.) Or at least it would be something to check out.
The sudden spin when you move your head in a particular way, but only lasts
very briefly, sounds like BPPV. I had it about 6 years ago and it's a rather easy thing to rectify with an Epleys Manoeuvre. It's a non-invasive procedure which takes about 5 minutes. It can be done by your ENT consultant, or some physios do it also.
But I don't remember having the pressure that you mention, so it may be some other issue that you have. But given that BPPV can be fairly easily addressed, it might be worth checking it out. If you are not familiar with this condition, or the epleys manoeuvre, check them out online. Hope things start easing up a bit for you.

I had an MRI before I had the endolymphaitc surgery. Do you have similiar symptoms as I described? Do you mind sharing what your MRI showed? Thank you for your input.

HI Ronda, im not for a second suggesting you have the same condition as me. I have Chiari malformation of the brain. All my symptoms are the same, a it was only after an MRI scan that they found it.
