Sudden nerve pain 7.5 weeks after ORIF

I had ankle ORIF 7.5 weeks ago, after 3 breaks to tibula/fibula and dislocation. Spent the first 6 weeks with my foot elevated, and then got the ok to start weight bearing. As suggested I've started slowly and am trying to build up the amount of weight I put on my bad foot gradually. I've been told I won't get physio until 12 weeks (when I lose the moon boot). Seems to be going ok, and aside from a sore calf muscle when I first started weight bearing, I've not had any pain when walking.
However, for the last two days I've had really severe nerve pain at night - wakens me not long after I go to sleep and doesn't shift with ibuprofen or paracetamol. It seems to settle by morning, and I'm ok the following day.
Any ideas why this would be? Is it a signal to slow down the weight bearing?
I do have nerve damage (either from the accident or the surgery) and have areas of the heel / sole of my foot that are numb.

see your doctor regarding pain. the numbness in you foot is nerve damage and within time the swelling goes down and the nerve issue lessons in time. keep icing the swelling. keep foot elevated and take recommended meds. give it time to heal . some things are a bit iffy at first once healing has completed the outcome from surgery will have greater value before analysis of complications continues, until healing is complete take it easy and one day at a time.
