Sudden pain 2 yrs post THR but tests/scans all ok, what should I do?

Hi, wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. I had THR two years ago at the age of 52, it went really well and I recovered very quickly. I have been thrilled with the results. I have been exercising regularly but keeping it low impact.

Then 2 months ago, over a course of a couple of days I suddenly started to get groin pain which radiates to the upper thigh and into the hip and deep into my buttock. I put it down to perhaps 'overdoing it'. In lockdown I have done some long uphill bicycle rides and reckoned that was it.

It didn't improve and started to become more constant and intense (dull throbbing & aching rather than sharp pain or pain under load). I had 6 sessions of physio. The physio said the hip was rotating perfectly and was perplexed.

I managed to see to my hip surgeon after a month. He did an MRI, x-ray and blood tests. The MRI and x-ray results didn't show any structural or muscular issues and the blood tests showed no sign of infection. He was reassured and suggested coming back to see him in a couple of months.

However the pain is getting much worse and I am petrified something serious is wrong (I had root canal treatment and a subsequent extraction after an abscess late last year so think maybe there could be an infection but that's maybe just my anxiety after googling so much).

Just be interested to hear from others who have experienced anything similar and how they have got to a diagnosis when test results don't show any issues but you know something is not right.

Thanks so much.
