Sudden problems after 5 years banded

Hi guys I’m nearly 5years banded with success of 5 1/2 stone weight loss, my band was at a good place where I could eat small meals and snacks and drink plenty. About 6 days ago I wasn’t paying attention properly and I swallowed before I had chewed a piece of sandwich, it came straight back up and since then I have been really tight . 3 days after the incident I thought it was getting better I was able to eat a small meal etc but after that I got my period and I’m back to just managing fluids and protein shakes and sometimes even that’s feeling like hard work. I’ve never experienced problems around my period or to this extent before and I’m wondering should I continue with fluids and shakes for another few days to see if it settles down again ? I have been under increased stress and had wondered if that has something to do with it also .

    Hi Charlotte

I've been banded 2 1/2 years and lost 6 stones before band and 5 1/2 after op, making a total of 11 1/2 stones.  My band caused no problems until a few weeks ago when I had a tight feeling in my throat and could hardly eat or drink anything, I haven't been under any stress although that can cause it to tighten, apparently bands can also tighten for no reason, I had .05 mil taken out and have been fine since then.  Maybe you could also have some fluid taken out, first try a few days just on shakes to see if it will settle down.  Hope you feel better soon and well done on your weight loss.
