Suffered for 4 years.. could it be a parasite?

I am a 24 year old female.

My issues basically began 4 years ago when I was admitted into hospital with ‘gastritis’.

There was no known cause for the flare up and I’d never had any major health issues before this.

I was diagnosed by gastroscope and treated with antacids and sent on my way.

For months after I couldn’t tolerate dairy products and heavy gluten- there wasn’t a lot I could eat that wouldn’t affect my gut.

I was diagnosed with IBS shortly after.

The IBS is something I’ve just learned to deal with over time.

Around the same time I started feeling fatigued on a regular basis, and after testing found out I have iron deficiency without anemia. Every time since (about 4 occasions, the last being a few months ago) I have been tested my ferritin levels have been low. Before this issue my iron levels were always within normal range.

2 years ago the joints in my knees, ankles, hips and wrists started swelling and aching.

I tested borderline positive for anti nuclear antibodies and positive for HLAB27. Negative for everything else and was given a diagnoses of non specific inflammatory arthritis.

This flare up went on for months before I finally saw a Rheumatologist and was given some perdisnolone (probably not correct spelling) which relieved my symptoms

I then went on to have another bout of gastritis earlier this year, brought on by the use of ibroprofen for a toothache. I didn’t take any more than what is prescribed on the box and only over 2 days- yet landed myself in hospital again and treated with antacids via IV.

A few months later I had a bout of what I was told was food poisoning.. no confirmation by any tests

And then my joints started swelling up again... this has been the case for 2 months now.

And to top it off I just spent a day in hospital with ‘suspected appendicitis’ after going to the ER with abdominal pain in my lower right stomach- apparently where the appendix is located. I also had nausea, fatigue, and a severe sense of just generally feeling unwell. (Dhiarrea as well but I generally get this regardless due to ‘IBS’)

The rest of the symptoms have eased up but 4 days later I still have this mystery pain in my abdomen.

I discharged myself from hospital as the doctors couldn’t give me a proper diagnosis and were ready to rip my appendix out... not cool.

I have also felt on that side it sometimes looks visibly swollen compared to the other side. I noticed it a few months ago and asked my partner but he thought I was crazy! I feel it’s more prominent when I’m bloated after eating that side pushes out a bit further ?

The only other thing I can think of is on 3 occasions this year I have had an ‘episode’ in the evening where once I fainted and was unconscious for over a minute, and 2 other times where I’ve almost fainted but had the same feeling as the first time (fortunately sat down before I actually fainted!)

All of these occasions I hadn’t eaten all day (funnily enough I was preparing dinner), and it just came out of nowhere. The doctors couldn’t and haven’t been able to explain these episodes. I don’t usually eat until dinner time so this wasn’t anything unusual and it doesn’t happen every time.

My question is because I feel as though it’s been overlooked- could this be a parasite causing all (or at least most of) my problems?

I have only travelled to Bali once and that was last year- most of this stuff started prior. But I did grow up spending every long weekend at the Murray River, often swimming, walking around barefoot and not having access to showers and toilets.

There was one occasion where my friend washed our ‘beer bong’ in the water and we all ended up with strep throat.

It just seems bizarre that doctors can’t ever give me a proper diagnosis and most of my results are ‘inconclusive’ and I keep getting treated for the issues separately and purely based on clinical presentation.

Thoughts?

    Hi Beck

Sounds like it could be upper intestinal issues? Does it feel like heartburn? If so get back to me!

Any household pets? Birds, cats, dogs? Could be helpful for me to know?! Open sores bleeding scratches, nodules, etc?

Hi beck hey girl I'm hearing you but so correct the hospital and doctors aren't doing enough they go on pathology tests that always come back negative!!! But we know our bodies best!!! My blood tests are all over the place then do more tests and scans then bloods back to normal then all over the place again!!! Do you have any other symptoms on your body lesions things coming out of them??? At first was told scabbies but we new that was incorrect been in and out of hospital last time my iron levels were again at anemic stage thyroid under productive and hemaglobins playing up they did a second blood test as obviously they were concerned about something in the end left with nothing except seeing discharge paperwork they said still suffering from scabbies but they seemed to be getting better!!! WELL ALL BLOOD TESTS ARE NEGATIVE FOR THAT TO!!!

BUT IF THATS WHAT THE HOSPITAL BELIEVED WHY WAS I NOT IN ISOLATION???

    PARASITES WORM IVASION IS REAL!!!

I certainly wouldn't do this s**t to my body for attention!!!

    It over takes your life😪😪😪

But my partner and Pharmacist are standing by me:-)

My partner just found a story will see if I can post a picture and story of a girl who was suffering for over 6 years with a flesh eating parasitic worm inside of her, now on the mend!!!

The doctor who discovered it is a disease travel specialist in microbiology works through North Sydney Hospital and private practice!!! Dr Hudson trying to get an appointment with him;-)))

Hello Beck 13001. Your story sounds like mine. Especially the joint swelling. I have been dealing with similar symptoms for the past 4-5 yrs. I also have vomiting episodes. Yes i do think it is parasitic in nature. No Drs. have really helped me & i have seen MANY including 4 different Infectious Disease Drs. I have for the past 2yrs been eating clean (no sugar, little dairy, no gluten etc), going for colonics, & doing Infrared Sauna. This has all helped (as well as youtube videos). But i am by no means CURED....There are many people going thru the same thing. All the Drs. do is keep sending me for tests (useless) & running up my bills....I am now dealing with low B12& my thyroid is completely off. Gee, i WONDER WHY? (lol).....I don't know what to say. Keep researching & check on youtube. All this Drs. do is treat SYMPTOMS anyway....Good luck!

Beck im almost positive u have a parasitic infection i lived with it for more than 10 years there are numerous symptoms that can mimic other conditions or diseases you do get gastritis or colitis and a lot of doctors don't know how to diagnose the proper way so they claim it's something else and before you know it you have a list of conditions and you're taking all these medicines two mask what's really going on the conditions I was diagnosed colitis asthma gout rheumatoid arthritis allergies migraines etc... my symptoms were extreme abdominal pain headaches joint pain muscle pain muscle weakness my blood test always said I was anemic low on B12 I got so low on vitamin D numerous times that caused me to pass out a lot even in Walmart and in the bathtub twice that my husband save me from drowning a parasitic infection also causes hair loss in general overall ill-feeling high blood pressure and alot of the time my white blood cell count was raised very high I went into the hospital numerous times it sounds to me that since you are having the joint pain and or muscle pain the parasite we'll go into your tissues and muscles and form cysts from your brain to liver to heart to lungs they form cysts everywhere once it has gone this far it's sometimes difficult to get rid of it your doctor needs to take a muscle biopsy as well as having a good infectious disease doctor I want to say in my opinion that you may have roundworms from undercooked pork or hookworms that live in soil as well as cats dogs all other animals people die all the time from parasites and I was almost one of them I am not a doctor but I do know what a parasitic infection symptoms are I wish you well and I hope you don't have a parasitic infection I wouldn't wish that upon anyone please take care of yourself and speak your mind to these doctors God bless you
