Suffering from Depression and Anxiety Doctor wants to change meds

Hello
I'm new to this but would welcome any thoughts, personal experiences or help at all.
I've suffered with depression and anxiety for many years (starting I think when I had severe PND after my 1st son was born.)
I am currently on 40mg of Citalopram and taking 5mg of Buspirone 3 x day to help the anxiety.
Since covid, my anxiety has gone through the roof and I feel like I have health anxiety as well now!
This week I was diagnosed with a chest infection and put on antibiotics and steroids. I was told I was boderline sepsis which scared me to death.
I approached another Dr who advised I wasn't and that my heart was racing due to the infection.
My mood has been really low and my anxietyhorrendous.
My GP has recommended changing from Citalopram to Sertraline, by dropping my Citalopram down from 40mg to 20mg for a week and then starting on 50mg of Sertraline increasing gradually.
Obviously this scares me to death as I already feel low, and having read a lot of reviews on this site, a lot have really struggled doing this.
Can my body have stopped being supported by the Citalopram, is it the anxiety around the sepsis scare that has knocked the stuffing out of me, and I just need to give it a bit longer? The questions are endless.
I really would welcome any comments that may make me see things from a different perspective or any advise anyone can give.
Thank You
