Suffering from shingles for almost 5 years

I am 32 years old and I have been suffering from shingles for almost 5 years now. My first episode occurred when I was laid off from my job and my second episode occurred when my son got really sick. Now if occurs with little or no stress. Most of the time I get one or two “pimple like spots” on my back that follows a constant stabbing pain. I get this about once every 2 weeks. When one spot disappears a new one reappears and the pain starts over and over again. I am really worried. Does anyone have this?

Hi you two
After my first bout of shingles cleared up after three weeks - last Jan - I now get regular bouts of itching... all over my skin. I can feel tired very easily and, trying not to get another bout of shingles, I rest. A lot. I am lucky I can rest.
I can't drink more than a glass of red wine or my shoulders start burning up and itching terribly. Over the last few months my arms have been itchy at a few spots which are now small scars.
Lee, I think you may be right. I think I have version of chicken pox in my blood.
I've searched all over the internet to find a solution, It just shows how much the medical profession don't know that much really!
Best wishes,
Mx

Hi I just read your article and sympathise totally with you, i have had reoccuring shingles for more than 12 years, I have had blood tests done etc and they found nothing wrong with my immune system (i even got check for HIV) after a stupid doctor scared me to death by saying this to me, my specialist now has me on acvlivor long term, i have been taking it for about 7 months and just had another attack, this is the longest i have gone without an attack though as i was getting it every 4 weeks or so, leaving me weak, the doctor said it is stress that causes it and to stop getting stressed. It leaves me very depressed as i thought there was light at the end of the tunnel when i was on the acyclivor but i must be getting immune to this too.
I have been prescribed a light box, which is used on reoccuring coldsore sufferers, i await my next attack to try it out, but like any shingle suffer you are already ill by the time the blister appears, the tiredness, fever and pain like someone is poking needles thought your joints and setting fire to your skin.......needless to say anyone who gets it my heart goes out to them.
