Suffering with anxiety and using alcohol

Hi I'm 46 years old and have used alcohol to control anxiety for many years .over the last few months I have had more physical symptoms and always start the day feeling positive but by 9 o'clock

I have pain  at the top of my nose and behind my eyes and have to have a drink to get on normally a 5 percent can of lager .it calms me down but the pain behind my eyes stays there normally I have the next beer about 11 am or 12 and keep topping up as the day goes on I normally have around 8 cans a day I have constant tinitus and have learned to hide this from most people but it's totally ruining my life .i have my own company and its getting harder every day to keep up the  show . My head feels constant pressure and feel unsteady on my feet most of the time .

am I the only one with this problem ?

i would like to know if anyone is going through the same thing

Hi ..you must be from the US?  Up this late....

I am not minimizing your drinking at all...that definetly sounds like a problem close to what I had...starting in morning and continuing till night.  Losing a grip on your life sad

But, I just wanted to tell you that Grass pollen is very high this year and STILL is very high..

.I am allergic to it and experience the symptoms you mentioned (and I also have puffy eyes).  I looked up the pollen count in my area today and it is very high.

My Dr. prescribed me Singuliar for allergies and it helps alot.

I'm letting you know because I thought all my problems were related to DRINKING.

They also sell over the counter allergy meds..if you want to try one out and see if they help you feel better.

Hi Thankyou for replying to my text I am going to  do a home detox lots of water and fruit I never thought of pollen as I have never suffered before .

I'm from uk and just checked the pollen count and its medium at the moment .

I never thought of pollen either because I was numbing myself with alcohol...and then when I told my Dr my eyes were so swollen...stuffy nose....tired all the time (after a week detox)...she prescribed me the pill for allergies and the next day I felt MUCH better.

I would have your blood pressure checked. I am 44 and booze definitely raises your blood pressure. When I drink it can be as high as 160/100. When I abstain it take three weeks for it to go back to normal. The worst thing I have gotten is pancreatitis from alcohol. It is really bad. I tossed the vodka gallons on Tuesday for good. Been sober one week today and I feel great.

Maybe consider some help. We can't drink much past our age buddy without feeling bad physical effects.

Hi Frank, yes me also.  Terrible anxiety, tinnitus and unsteady on my feet.  My husband has his own company and I work with him quite a lot.  And yes it is very hard to function and pretend everything is fine to customers when inside my ears are shrieking and I feel dizzy.  The more woked up I get up thinking about it and the more dizzy I get.  Horrible - feeling this for you.
