Sugary sweets- worse

Posted , 4 users are following.

During my taper from 1800MG to now 40mg, I developed a high craving from sweets. Does anyone notice a correlation between withdrawal symptoms and sugar intake for yourself or others?

Neurologically my guess is there's a connection with this connection between binding on the GABA receptors, the way alcohol does. What do you think? Is it so bad to replace the brain's craving for GABA with something else? Should we suffer through the lesser side effects like cravings to prevent worse withdrawal symptoms?

I know that it's common for hunger to increase in general with this medication. I found that when I was at 100 mg I had a loss of appetite. Now I'm at 30 mg and my hunger is increased, including for sweets. I make sure that I'm having a healthy types of sweets like bananas and watermelon, and sweet veggies like yams and carrots. I don't want to turn to unhealthy sweets... candy, soda, danishes or ice cream because I think it's important to eat healthy, drink plenty of water and exercise while coming off this medication. This stuff is already hard on our body. We don't need to make things harder by falling into the cravings in an unhealthy way.

Interesting to hear of someone else that suffered loss of appetite, as I did. I lost a couple of stone in weight easily, went down to a size 8. I wasn't complaining about my figure, but I did look tired and my skin really grey and gaunt. I found it so hard to eat anything at all, But i know more people have problems with weight gain, with has been seen to cause deaths recently. I am not on any nerve pain meds now, and I have now got a bit of a sweet tooth, just try to keep everything in moderation.
