I found that the swimming pool is good.
As I don't know your age I'll take it that your in your 50'
I walk up and down the pool then hold onto the side and bring my legs up and straight out behind me and then pull my knees in and out. I do about 30 of these.
Lunges are also good, go onto you tube and watch how to do them, but I still use my crutches for these as I smashed my back up when playing tennis few years ago.
I enjoy using the rowing machine.
When you walk, make sure you put your heel down first ( basically your rolling your foot).
When you walk you have to think about where to put your foot.
You can also practice when your going up and down stairs.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes
Sue

Shooting pain down one leg suggests sciatica. Your chiropractor should be able to keep you aligned (it does take a while to set it and keep it). If not, there might be other causes...

The one thing that needs to be stretched is the hamstrings. They just get sooooo tight. YouTube's got tons of videos on doing those stretches. Yes, gotta stretch the quads, abductors, etc. All part of your warmup to rebuild all those dead muscles...

Gotta do the rebuild if you want to avoid more pain, walk correctly, regain your balance and do stairs like a normal person. Can't skip this step. Will take you the next 6 months... Enjoy...

My lower back has also been bad, went to chiro too, didn't really help, I find just moving helps, the more I sit the worse it is especially in morning , I hope it will just gradually improve.I do some stretching, not much , can look up on net, I found ones in pool good, just waiting for it to warm up here as pool too cold at moment.
