this particular drug can make you feel like this. Have you or are you suffering with side effects? It's still very early and you may find you feel worse before feeling better. It can take six+ weeks to start working for you. If you feel like you may act on these tthoughts, please call your doc. I was given diazepam to help adjusting to citalopram. Wishing you well xx

I mostly agree with Lorraine who has made a very kind post. I disagree to give the 6-8 weeks time to "Work". These drugs are very hard to stop once you are on them. Best if you can undertake counselling as psychiatrists seem only ale to give prescriptions. Lorraine is absolutely right in that if you feel like acting on these thoughts get to your GP (family doctor) or the nearest hospital immediately!
You are in my prayers and I wish you full recovery to a succesful, fulfilling, and long life. Every problem can be solved gradually so do be patient with yourself. Truly, you are dealing with a common side effect.

I am another troubled soul and glad you found out that you are not alone. That is the worst feeling. Please do not feel ashamed of yourself for these thoughts, because we know scientifically that depression is an imbalance of certain chemicals in the brain. It is organic and can happen to anyone. There are different root causes, but the good news is that you are right on top of this. Commend yourself! I know nothing about the med that you are on, but I do know that if you are not feeling the results you wish for, then speak with your doc to see if the dosage needs to be tweeked. Yes sometimes it is too soon to tell but it is wise to report those thoughts.
Hang in there! You are on your way to better!
