Sumatriptan

I have been taking sumatriptan for quite a few years and it works really well for me. The last time I picked my prescription up it was made by a different company so the tablet was a bullet shape instead of round and I realised it could be halved. So for the last few weeks I have only been taking half and that has worked, so my question is, if half doesn't work, would it be safe to take the other half? Normally, if the recommended dose doesn't work, you can't take any more. Tia.

I'm not sure I understand the question. If the bullet-shaped and the round ones both contain the same dose, what possible harm could there be in taking two halves of a bullet-shaped one? You'd be getting the same dose as you were before.

Forgive me if I misunderstood the question.

No, I don't think you've misunderstood, that's what I sort of thought, if it's the same dose it should be ok.

      Hi Tia

You can take 100mg max dose of sumatriptan in one go, if the headache comes back you can take another 100mg max, but no more then in 24 hours.

      Hope this helps.

      Best wishes and take care
