Superpath hip replacement

I need a hip replacement. My sister in Australia is in the same situation and is having a superpath hip replacement shortly. Do you know any hospital in the UK carrying out such a method?

Hi Rachel,
How are u? Just want to know how did your sister's superpath go? Is there any problem so far? My mum needs to do the THR as well. Really worry about her. I live in Sydney too. Please let me know about your sis's operation if u can. Thank you
Best wishes

I had my THR at the Nuffield in Leamington. It's a great hospital & all of the staff are wonderful. Good luck x

i am having hip replacement on 22nd June with Hugh Apthorp . He is in Kent and uses the minimally invasive method. Performs around 600 ops per year, only hips. i did a lot of research before committing to this. Look at Google and you tube and see what you think,

Good luck with it no doubt you will be updating us on your experience.
As I posted the other day I can get him as an NHS patient with MSK at Crowborough in Sussex. I'm still trying to find out the difference between his procedure and SuperPath.
I'd not looked for it on Youtube but will do so.

Hi Peter, I'm having the superpath thr method with Mr Cronin this autumn but it'll be on the NHS. Having the right side done first and then the left as soon as possible after that. Hope all goes well with your op. Could you keep me posted how it goes x

Hi Belinda, I'm on the NHS as well but only having the left done, can't see them allowing many more on the 'Choose and Book' system ! I work quite hard and also a part time gym instructor so not cutting through the muscles is vital for me, no scar tissue and they should knit round the new hip quicker

Hi Belinda, had the left hip replaced by Mr Cronin on the 28th June. Had epidural, gas and general ! although I didn't really want an epidural. Had no real pain because of the epidural and constant morphine and codeine paracetamol etc. Tip.. Don't have codeine, the pain of trying to go to the loo was far worse than the operation !! Brilliant surgeon and nurses, even had hot chocolate and biscuits at 3am ! Went back and picked my car up 9 days later as I drove there, only because it's an automatic. Fantastic follow up physio and gym program at my local Nuffield in Newbury, Berkshire. Crutches for 2 weeks then a stick and now (7 weeks) no aids at all. The gym exercises are tough but do really help strengthen your operated leg
