Hello.
After my recent RA diagnosis and starting MTX yesterday, Im wondering what supplements people are taking?
So far I have vitamin D, a fish oil capsule (but unsure which one to get), turmeric, a probiotic and b complex. Is there anything else I should be taking - calcium maybe?
any help appreciated

I take 6000mg of fish oil a day, 1000 mg odourless fish oil, they come in a big bottle of 200 capsuls for about $30.00 au, as recommended by rheumo Dr, two for breakfast, two for lunch, and two for dinner.
Disadvantge - makes my hair very greasy, so have to wash hair each and every day, sometime twice a day, so keep it very short like boys haircut, just a little longer.
Advantge - seems to help with micro lines on face, many have plumped out, so can hardly even see them now, big help with arthiritis, seems to settle the soreness.
Krill Oil - disagrees with me big time, give me the most horendous heartburn, also a neighbour was having the same, told her to stop taking Krill Oil, even her Dr didn't pick up, and was giving her chalky type liquid to help with heartburn, I told her to stop the Krill oil, she came back to me some time later said heartburn went away when she stopped the Krill Oil.

I guess no other side effects from the high dose fish oil you are taking or you would have mentioned them. My doctor did mention fish oil was studied and helps with RA symptoms. So I researched and saw 6000 to 7000 mg was the dose needed to be most effective. Glad it works for you.
RA doc did tell me dont waste money on expensive supplements. I take tumeric, fish oil and eve primrose oil, probiotics. I cut back on a few supplements and try to eat a healthy diet with lots of fruits and veggies
I don't take supplements on MTX day with concerns that it could interfere with the med. I read the latest Consumer Report article on Supplements that came out recently. I wish they were all tested by the FDA. You just don't know what is in them. Plan on getting cherry juice as others have mentioned to add to diet.
