Has anyone ever taken Alpha-lopoic Acid for osteoporosis. And, if you have did it help? Did you have any side effects?

The evidence that it may help in preventing osteoporosis seems to be relatively new work and I can only find links to very basic studies (i.e. not in patients). The link I've given above suggests that the claims that are made about it are wide ranging - and, equally, that they are not necessarily justified which is a common occurrence when a substance is presented at the be-all and end-all!  It IS approved and used for diabetic neuropathic pain in Germany - but they do have very different ideas about some things.

On the other hand - it may well help and unless you have diabetes there don't seem to be any problems taking it.
