Who here feels when they reach out for support from help lines they just listen or refer you without listening to someone else but end result is still the same you are left at home holding phone as they have spent their Quito of time and move on to the next call , I cannot even be admitted when I feel overwhelmed and have  chewed my tooth loose from tension or god know what

This is so true everytime I tried to get support for my partner I was robbed off even the number for mental health in our borough of London was useless and it was given by a hospital member of mental health team I thought it was just West London mental health services were useless but it seems all over UK it's the same. It's always if you are worried go aande.!!!!!

Hi Sinead, I do agree to a certain extent but in UK you are probably better looked after with mental health issues than in some countries, listening therapy is supposed to be very good and is endorced as a first response from most psychiatric units, years ago you would have been sectioned if you continued to be non responsive and possibly arrested if you attempted suicide, now the emphasis has changed to care in the community which I personally think is far better for most people, I saw at first hand the treatment for mentally ill patients and believe me you may consider that the available treatment isn't good but it's 100% better than it was, have you joined any online forums other than this one, I have links to a couple of excellent ones I could send you depending on your age

Hi I get this.  When I was suicidal and about to take some pills around 8 years ago now in desperation I rang the out of hours mental helpline.  I found it hard to talk and after a couple of minutes the man said if I couldn't talk he would have to go as he was very busy and on his own!

This pushed me over the edge and I took my pills.  I then rang him back to tell him I had because of his attitude but all he said was I had to call an ambulance otherwise he would call the police on me.  So I did.  But I also determined never to ever call the out of  hours service again.  Maybe that's why they treat you like that?

Sorry I am not much help but just wanted to let you know you are not alone.  x
