Oh the joys of the cooler months. The countryside provides a wonderful display of colour. As I watch the leaves beginning to turn and fall I am reminded of how depressing a time this can be. The weather turns cold and wet, the nights draw in, our symptoms worsen and on top of all that we have 4 main events (Halloween, Bonfire Night, Christmas and New Year).

It is at this time, however, I look up and see how many people are there supporting those around them. Complete strangers doing their best to make sure everyone has someone they can turn to. This forum is a prime example. I have not read a post yet that has not been supportive in some way.

I think this year I shall hold onto this as I prepare for hybernation. Lol.

Lol  it is all to easy to lose ourselves in that ocean of dispair. Finding a glimmer of light in an altogether dark world gives you something to reflect on.

I hate when the nights first get darker & the days colder but I do get used to it as I spend more time in by the fire (it's always on my gas bill is sky high !!)

i enjoy whatching all the TV programmes showing people rushing around shopping & partying while I do all my shopping online & I may go out for a lunch in December ( if I'm up to it !!) I feel as if I'm sat back whatching the world go round & I'm no part of it !!

but I must say I've always hated Christmas shopping so that part I don't miss ( there's always a silver lining !! Haha ! ) I hope everyone gets some relief over the Christmas holidays take care dawn x

I try to be positive in the autumn/winter months as I suffer from S.A.D.  Fortunately I don't get my S.A.D. until Jan/Feb time.

I love the autumn months with the changing colour of leaves.  Also fortunately for me I absolutely love Christmas.   The build up to it boots me up.  Also I have 4 grandchildren to buy for, which makes it worthwhile.

I feel obviously for people whose Christmas is a no-no.

Another thing that helps me is there are things you do in the winter that to my mind don't have the same appeal in the summer.    For instance, hot buttered crumpets don't have the same wow factor when it is hot !   Also if you don;t have to go out in the evenings, get warm and cosy, turn down the lights, light a scented candle etc.    Although I am 72, I have a onesie and slob out in that on a cold night.   This works for me all the above, but of course not everybody would agree with me.
