Even though I might not NEED it because I have HSV-1 I'm afraid of coming off. I really am. I feel extremely normal and healthy and unafraid. Idk it provides me a comfort. I have a friend that I've known for years and he has expressed interest in being together. Granted this whole thing is still fresh and I'm not trying to hop in anything now..I feel like I should stay on it. The medicine helps decrease the chances of giving it to someone that doesn't have it right? I did tell him I have it. He actually took it very well and just wants to see me take care of myself. *sigh* it's so hard. You don't really have many people to talk to (except here) because they don't kno the struggle. The outbreak, the fear, the anger, the sadness. There is so much that goes along with HSV and it doesn't end after your outbreak heals.

This is more of a rant I guess that started with my fear of coming off of the meds lol

Do you have it I your genitals and what issues you face after primary outbreak

Yes. And the emotional and mental burdens after the fact.

I have HSV2 but only had one outbreak in 1 year and 3 month you should be fine pray rake probiotics and stay clean and sleep

Did you already have oral HSV-1 (as a child or older) when you got HSV-2?

But if he has ever had oral HSV-1, then there's no reason to take the meds for him. Did you ask if he's ever had cold sores? There's a chance that he has.

I am certain you will not recur without meds, or next to never (like once a year, at most). Take note, though: Coming off the meds can trigger a bit of an outbreak for some.

I don't think he ever has. That's why I'm a bit afraid. And see I don't want to deal with that! I know it's a chance I might have to take but eeeek. I'm not looking forward to it 😖

I've been reading studies comparing the two types and you really have little to fear (unlike me, sigh - am now thinking I should avoid sex for a year...), except for possible transmission. First 3 months are the most infectious, so don't rush into sex if he's negative.

Yeah I plan on taking a little break. And I don't want to have sex with someone I'm not serious about. I'm also wondering if I should go back and do a follow up test since that loser said he might have both. Do you think it's necessary?

Oops, mistakenly liked your comment, lol.

It's unlikely he passed both at the same time, but for peace of mind and to see how your IgG scores compare, I would personally re-test for both at 3-4 months.

That's what I'm going to do, because my swab was positive, but my first IgG negative, so I'm curious to see my antibody level in 2-3 months' time.

Also, *if* he has both, it would be funny that you caught the least infectious type that does not prefer the genital area. The odds would be that you should have caught Type 2, so I don't think you did, just Type 1.

Testing IgG positive for Type 1 can sometimes produce an equivocal or low positive result for Type 2, which is possibly why he said that he *may* also have Type 2 versus he definitely has it.

Ohhh! See I haven't seen any proof of the nonsense he's been spilling so I don't really know. And now we're not talking haha

Lol, yeah, I'm not really talking to mine either. So mad that he never properly apologised! Did yours? Ultimately, it doesn't matter if they knew or not, imo, since they were the ones who nevertheless passed this on, so I feel a heartfelt apology (anything!) is warranted. Inhuman douche! Heh

In the end he "went to another doctor" (I don't trust him) that told him "he didn't have it but was in contact with it". That makes no sense. First you have it now you just came into contact with it? Please

I remember that doctors said I had cellulitis no herpes lol then I asked for a culture they said they grew the virus tat I was exposed to HSV LOL

Lmao, that's ridiculous! You either have it or you don't. HSV tests can sometimes have false positives/negatives, but that doesn't change the fact that you are either infected or not - there is no middle ground. He should go back to the other doctor, lol, if he's been to any at all!

Exactly! That's why I don't believe him. The first doctor that told him he had it was the same doctor that was trying to say he didn't have it before he tested. Now look. And when I asked for an explanation he was like oh he was talking doctor talk I couldn't understand. You are an older man with a Masters degree. Are you serious? You aren't dumb but clearly you think I am lol
