Suprapubic catheter problems

my son cannot communicate much and we are his parents he has MS and type 1 diabetes and the MS has made him blind. He's had the suprapubic catheter for a few years and mostly there hasn't been too many problems until recently. We look after our son now that is why I am hoping someone else has experienced some of the things we are going through at the moment. Firstly our son cannot talk he does understand, very much so, cannot express himself. He is in wheelchair all day carers get him washed in the morning and get him into chair then come back at 4pm to wash him and put him back to bed where we give him his tea. He also has problems swallowing food so everything is pureed Recently the catheter has been bypassing resulting in it having to be changed long before it is due to be changed. Even being washed out doesn't solve the problem It is well and truly blocked. there seems to be sediment forming in his bag and tube and his father and I think that is what Is causing it to bypass and block. There also seems to be yellow stuff forming in his bag and tube. Also because he has MS his bowel is very sluggish and we have to puree prunes and berries with yoghurt and he has that twice daily along with four movicol. If his bowel is very active it can block his catheter too and it starts to bypass then as well and we have to call out nurse to change catheter. was wondering if there is anyone there who experiences the same things and what had been done to resolve it.

Our son cannot manage on his own he cannot even walk please do not think we are over protective his only choice being to live at home or a care home and care is not what he wants and what is detailed in the complete power of Attorney prepared by our son and solicitor when he was able to attend to this with no input from us.

mostly it is the sediment and catheter blocking and washes not resolving the issue we would appreciate any advice on what to do.
