I have had a year of hell with Gerd.
Nexium works but i get a range so many other symptoms .
Coated tongue .loose stools ,bad sleep ,no appetite ,throat clearing ,dry skin no energy .
I have been told to continue Nexium to controls my Gerd.
But i dont want to be on these for life ,i had a 24 hour PH study done also which put me in the category for surgery .
So i have started on 150mg of Zantac to replace the Nexium .
I have been refereed to another specialist and awaiting a n appointment .
Hpylori was negative on the Endoscopy Biopsie .
But i might get the breath test done just to be sure .
I never suffered with relflux until 2017 ,i am now 38 years old.
I am considering surgery .
Any helo is appreciated.

Had a endoscopy done 2 years ago. Had symptoms of having to clear my throat alot as well. Had gerd since i was a kid. antacid worked for 30 some years then wasnt enough. 40 mg omeprazole twice a day works but insurance only thinks i need 1. endoscopy showed barretts. that explains the trouble swallowing. took me a couple years to get a honest person from insurance company to actually tell me why they refused my meds. they are starting to refuse to pay for meds you can buy over the counter. meanwhile my barretts is getting worse. have another endoscopy scheduled next month to check its progression. its one if those diseases that can turn into cancer.

Cheers pal
this was my diagnosis
You have short segment Barrett’s oesophagus as previously discussed.
Your biopsies do not show any evidence of pre-cancerous changes.
No H Pylori were seen on your biopsies but you can certainly get a Breath Test if you wish.
Currently guidelines would indicate that you have a follow up Gastroscopy in 3 years.
You should take the acid inhibitors or have anti-reflux surgery.
would you consider the surgery

Surgery wasnt even offered to me. think i would consider it tho. the reflux is only going to make the barretts worse. plus the things you see about the possible side effects from the meds to fight the acid.
