Surgery for Menieres

I had a Endolyphatic Sac Decompression on 11/30 which there was a complication of a CSF leak and on 12/3/18 I ended up in the Er with possibly meningitis. Inpatient for 5 days at my local hospital. My wound broke down and sent back to the surgery for a second surgery on 12/8. Since I had balance issues, memory and loss of word issues. have not been able to get rid of a severe headache, which is the worst. I get a lot of severe temple pain, ear pain, I have vision changes. Anyone else have these issues after this surgery?

Hello Willow, So sorry to hear of all the issues, I just wanted to say that I have the chronic loss of balance and I am in a wheelchair to ambulate, I have ocular migraines and vision changes, vision is not clear, looks like I'm looking through saran wrap.I have had an eye twitch since bad migraine in Oct. 2011, and I have not had the surgery. I was advised to not due the surgery due to my meniere's being bilateral. I am wishing you the best, so sorry you are having all the problems, It is bad enough living with meniere's, without all the side effects of surgery.

I go Monday for a Cystogram to see if I still have a leak. If there is it means a 3rd surgery. Not sure what they will do about these headaches if there is not. These headaches are getting the best of me. I just started Cymbalta to help with my anxiety and depression this has caused and hoping it will help with the headaches. But it takes 6 weeks to start working. I had the surgery in 2013 and had awesome results, just can’t believe all this is happening.

Hi Willow, I know that is pitiful, I so hope they can help you, I am hoping without you doing the third surgery. Headaches are very bothersome, they just drain the strength right out of you. Maybe if you can get the anxiety and depression in better control this help you as well. We are all behind you, and we won't let you fall!

Oh no Willow
I haven't had any surgeries and I probably won't because my MD is bilateral. So all I can do is offer my support and tell you that this bump in the road will soon be in the rear view mirror. Stay the course and come here to vent if you need to...we do understand. And you know Bertman always cheers us up!
Take care...

Hello Mary, Thank you for the nice mention in your post to Willow, I am so glad that you can find cheer in my words. It is my best intention to support the group as best as I can. We are all students of the meniere's school of hard knocks. We have so much to learn from each other, sharing our experiences, broadens the horizons. The more we know about meniere's the better equipped we will be in handling the situation. Trying to live a normal life as possible is a hope for most of us. The results of testing, surgery, and medication is vital information for everyone of us to know. We can and do help each other! And I believe that is awesome sauce! I am so sorry for everyone's anguish with this meniere's illness, it's tough! but we have to be tougher! I do admit that I second guess myself alot when the symptoms are rampaging! But at the end of the day! I whooped it's butt again!
