Surgery in two days, pretty anxious and terrified?

Posted , 2 users are following.

I have a particularly large ovarian cyst on my left ovary, all I know at the moment is that it measures 19cm. I had to get blood taken yesterday and I just found out from my doctor that results came back abnormal, but she said that it can be inaccurate for young people.

I've started feeling pain in my right side beginning in mid-June, and the pain has been in varying degrees and has mostly been localized to the right. However, a few weeks ago I felt a sharp pain in my right, but then the pain in that side subsided. Now, I'm not nearly as much pain as I was in before, but when there is it's in my left and is like a dull tightness.

I'm 20. This is going to be my first surgery in a hospital and I have anxiety problems so the whole experience of dealing with this cyst has been incredibly stressful. Any advice to calm down and for anything regarding post-op?

The doctor told me my cyst was mostly fluid-filled, and from what I've read online a tumor and cyst look different. How can I relax, I can't do anything from now until surgery and I can't know for sure for another couple of weeks...

How gabrielle! I hope you are doing okay anxiety wise 🙂 I suffer from awful anxiety too. When my mind goes into overdrive I go for a quick walk or breathe deep and say "life is a cinch by the inch". Take everything one step at a time... you are in the right hands! I'm in a pretty similar situation, my cyst is 27cm and I'm waiting on my surgery discussion. I'll send some hugs, thoughts and prayers your way girlfriend. Be good and let us know how it goes ??

Hey Cassie, I'm doing pretty good actually smile The surgery wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be, sure I was terrified as they were prepping me but literally a few seconds after they started wheeling me out to the OR, I blacked out. Next thing I know, I'm waking up in the recovery room and find out that it's all over. The surgery was last Thursday, and I'm recovering pretty quickly.

Anyways, I'm sending hugs, thoughts, and prayers back at ya. You'll be fine, just like thousands of other women who get this surgery are. The pain and surgery will be over before you know it.
