Surgery or not? One or two?

Lots of discussion on one or both feet. Thank you for sharing.
How are shoes after 6 minths? Are your feet narrower? Can you wear sandals?
Does it improve your feet once you get past the pain and swelling and surviving the first while.

Hi Diana! I was able to wear a sneaker (a good, comfortable, sturdy) after I got my boot off--which, for me, was 3 months. I did have a lot of pt while in the boot and for about a month after the boot. I highly recommend the pt as it took awhile for my foot and toes to "wake up" again, although my surgery was extensive, with three permanent pins and hardware. My foot is MUCH narrower (and smaller) and my foot is totally transformed. Even though this surgery is a lot and requires much hard work to get back into the swing of things---you almost have to learn to walk again (I had let this go for so long that I found that I was not even using my toes when I walked), I would absolutely go ahead with the surgery. I think the pain and swelling really depend on the amount of work that needs to be done once the surgeon gets into your foot. I am about 3 weeks out on my second foot being done and the first (which was on my dominant side) was far worse. Hope that helps you out. I am 4 months out after having my first foot done and I am just now beginning to be able to move my big toe. It takes awhile to reconnect the brain with the muscles in your foot. So, I am thinking good, sturdy sandals with support will be just fine for the summer. Hope this helps you!!!
