Hey everyone, I am finally scheduled for next Thursday to have mt 5cm x 4 cm simple cyst and left ovary out. Crapping myself as I've never had surgery before! I don't know what to expect, whats it like in the hospital etc. I may be 42, but I feel like a scared 10 year old right about now!!!

Hiya, I don't know yet. Dr. Hunter says she's going to try and get the cyst and ovary through keyhole, but won't know until she gets in and has a look first. She did say that she would do her best to avoid a laparotomy. I think maybe I'm just afraid of the unknown!

mandy what are you having done? I'm like you, wondering how the recovery will be. I'm fortunate to have a lot of good friends here in the UK, along with my hubby and sis in law, ready to look after me smile (I'm an American girl now living here.)

laparotomy to remove cyst size of large melon and ovaries........think they worry you at hospital by going on about recovery time......but at same time i guess it is best to rest, I am my own worst enemy for not resting....

    Hiya Hun..

I had an ovarian cyst when I was 19!

So you can imagine how I felt.

Anyway I was operated on, and they found a 3lb cyst on my right ovary. You will be rumbled with lots if tummy wind afterwards. It's uncomfortable

And you will have to be careful with not lifting heavy things for a good while until you properly heal. I lost my right ovary, so I had an ooferectomy.

It's not a nice thing, but you will be relieved afterwards. Let me know how you got on god bless 😊✨

Thanks for replying. I am scared to pieces actually because I've never had anything seriously wrong with me (and while I know this isn't super serious, it's big for me) and I just have no idea what to expect. Even being in the hospital kinda freaks me out. I've felt kinda crappy the past week or so, very tired and washed out and my cyst is letting me know he's still there ha ha. I honestly hope they do take out the ovary too, I don't want a chance for this to come back. x

      Ahh! Bless you Hun.

I know it's not knowing the unknown.

But today's medicine techniques are so advanced, with surgery.

Better than when I had my operation done in 1980 sometime ago! Hey..

      But I've been okay since.

Key hole surgery wasn't around then, so if you get that done it will be even better for you. I had no choice.

Anyway ask for your partner of someone you would like with you on the day,

But they won't be able to go in theatre with you.

But you will be fine. I will pray for you anyway god is our great comforter. And he's helped me out of some hairy situations I can tell you!!

So just don't worry too much. You will be glad when it's all done and over with.

You will feel uncomfortable but that's not forever.

Anyway keep me I touch with what's happening okay.

      Thinking of you

      God bless 🐥🙏✨🌺

I had my pre-admission appointment Friday past. The nurses were so incredibly kind, and took soo much time with me and my hubby. Had an EKG and full blood panel drawn. All came back perfect which is such a reilef. The staff nurse who spoke to us about the procedure and what to expect was amazing. I am scared of being alone in the hospital without someone I know by my side. sad Will a family member be able to be with me right before I get taken to theatre? Does my hubby get to see me after I'm out of recovery? See? It's even stuff like this that makes me anxious! Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to share and reply, it makes this whole process a bit easier.

husband should be able to come down as far as outside theatre with you and then be brought into recovery room to see you when you wake up. so you won't be alone.
